What a moron. "The Wii U will fail", "The Wii U is priced right", "I just don't get the Wii U and I don't think gamers will as well", "The Wii U had a healthy launch and now it will be sold out until March". I swear this guy flip-flops more than a fish out of water. I think he does this so that if the Wii U failed, he could proclaim the he all told us so. And if it succeeded, then he pretends like he saw it all along.

What an idiot.

TimmyShire4320d ago

I agree. I've seen a lot of comments from Pachter were he literally changes his opinion between sentences. Man's a fool.

aceitman4320d ago

There is hundreds on eBay and not really selling well. And stores have in stock.

Neonridr4320d ago

ebay is a poor sample pool considering people are all trying to sell them for like $800 bucks. And everywhere around me is sold out.

MegaLagann4320d ago

Black Friday is where the massacre will begin.

cee7734320d ago

Well eBay is supply and demand remember when ps3 launched they were selling upwards to 1000$ dollars on eBay because of the shortage there also multiple deaths and robberies rather it way launch or around the time it was pandamonium

But as far Wii U it will be fine there will be artificial shortages to stimulate sales that's the politics with new hardware and new hardware always sells out at launch but will it be able to keep up the momentum that is the question we'll just have to wait and see.

victoryscreeeeeech4320d ago (Edited 4320d ago )

its selling well its just not sold out.

It's really mind boggling that he has a job like this when he's so incompetent at it, kinda makes you wonder what kind of people are running this industry.

Knight_Crawler4320d ago

Calling Patch a moron is an insult to all morans.

ahronith4320d ago

If Wii U is sold out, then why do 2 Walmarts, Target and Best Buy have multiples of both versions just sitting on shelfs where I live ??? Here comes the fake hype Nintendo loves to create...

quantae064320d ago (Edited 4320d ago )

Really!? I need to go over there for when I buy my Wii U console. I only have AC3 for it, but I haven't bought the console yet due to $$ over-budgeting. Where I live at they are sold out & I'm not bulling. This man came in with his wife and said he looked all over the city and couldn't find one. He then went to Hastings, where they only had 2 left and he bought one. I'm sure someone got that last one. They are sold out at Gamestop, Walmart & Hastings where I stay at.

Dailynch4320d ago

Maybe if Nintendo made more consoles for launch we wouldn't have to deal with this manufactured drought!

chadboban4320d ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say you weren't going to buy one anyway? And if so, why should you care about how much consoles are manufactured by Nintendo?

Summons754320d ago

You do know manufacturing consoles cost money right? You do realize that there is never a guarantee that something will see right? You do know nintendo isn't stupid and won't over produce on the off chance that it won't sell right?

Welcome to the world of business. You have to guess how many to make to one not spend a lot until you regain some of the money spent and that if you don't sell well you don't have a warehouse full of things that nobody wants. Yeah it's a Nintendo product so it's guaranteed to sell like hotcakes but it is also a new system not many people know about, unsure if it is worth it and a new controller that is alien to people right now so a lot of people will hold on a purchase until they get to demo it, see it live in action, or know that there are games that will justify their purchase. Obviously the only thing someone in their shoes could do is guesstimate and hope that it's enough. They are selling the system at a loss so they can't produce too much and risk ruining themselves by gaining a debt they won't be able to get out of. Being sold out until March maybe over exaggerating a lot but it's look like the Wii launch again and finding a system will be hard for a long time.

MegaLagann4320d ago

That would be like if someone suggested we make more money to get out of the deficit. You can't just make more.

kneon4320d ago

Except that's essentially what many governments have been doing. And that is not going to end well.

chaos-lockheart4320d ago

There's still plenty of wii U's around my area

jbgamer4319d ago (Edited 4319d ago )

Really where do you live, how about some photos from your phone showing the systems in the store? Yeah, the wii u IS SELLING OUT EVERY WHERE, COME ON ALL YOU FOLKS WHO SAY our stores have plenty of wii u's .. PROVE IT! WERE DO YOU LIVE SO WE CAN CALL THE STORES OUR SELVES, WHERE ARE THE CELL PHONE VIDEOS THAT SHOW THE WII U NOT SELLING..

WHAT ? NO PROOF? THEN STOP LYING AND GET THE HELL OVER IT.. THE WII U IS A SUCCESS!!! get over it!!!

chaos-lockheart4319d ago

@jbgamer

Walmart and target, i don't need to prove anything, doesn't matter what you believe me or not, doesn't get me a free wii u

PrivateRyan4320d ago

Wii U will probably sell well, just as Wii did

I think it's the gaming experience it will/won't provide that people are questioning atm

WeAreLegion4320d ago

I took this picture this morning.

There are two in there.

WeAreLegion4320d ago

Also, check out my sweet shoes in the reflection.

beerkeg4320d ago

Wow, a whole two consoles that haven't sold. Yeah you're right, it definitely isn't selling very well.

Raccoon4320d ago

Where did he state that it wasnt selling very well?

MidnytRain4320d ago

bubbled down for paranoia and defensiveness

Neonridr4320d ago

Crow, at my local Walmart, they put empty boxes inside the display case. They even had to put a note on the outside saying that those weren't real Wii U boxes.

Not saying that is the case there, but just something to note.

WeAreLegion4320d ago

Oh, no. It's selling incredibly well. I was just showing you guys. ^_^ These were the actual consoles, by the way. Every other store in town is completely sold out, btw.

GuruStarr784320d ago

Yeah, but who really wants the white version?

for $300 (versus 350 for the deluxe) you only get 8gb of memory, no stands and no game...

informed people would hold out and get the deluxe, where for only $50 more, you get a game, extra memory and all the stands and charger...

Although, I'd still be willing to bet that those two systems sitting there won't last the weekend..

Filing Lawsuit for Infringement of Patent Rights against Pocketpair, Inc.

Nintendo and Pokemon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair Inc., the creators of Palworld, in Tokyo, Japan.

Ye, Custom Robo Arena was a lot better than Pokemon anyways, now that's a game.

Eonjay1d 15h ago

Interestingly this comes like a day after they announced they would be at the Tokyo Games Show.

Vits1d 13h ago

We should all really hope so. Otherwise, this could lead to many issues, as they hold patents on numerous game mechanics. And when I say numerous, I truly mean it. Take this one, for example:

"Abstract: In an example of a game program, a ground boarding target object or an air boarding target object is selected by a selection operation, and a player character is caused to board the selected boarding target object. If the player character aboard the air boarding target object moves toward the ground, the player character is automatically changed to the state where the player character is aboard the ground boarding target object, and brought into the state where the player character can move on the ground."

In plain English, do you guys remember that super amazing mechanic where you surf on the water with a Pokémon, and then when you hit land, it changes to you walking? Yeah, they patented that.

21h ago
porkChop2d ago

A patent lawsuit? What Pokémon-related patent could Palworld even be infringing that other similar games haven't? This makes no sense. Feels like Nintendo just trying to throw its weight around to bully competitors, just like they do with emulators even though they're legal.

Kaii2d ago

They can't Innovate their own IP, but when others are breaking the ceiling, they run to the courts, gtfo Nintendo/Gamefreak.

Companies' gatekeeping mechanics behind the patent system to stifle innovation, consumers will always pick the better product, it's not the consumer's fault that Gamefreak has sat on their lazy assess for years.

Kornholic1d 16h ago

"Consumers will always pick the better product"

Since when?

swedishMeatwad1d 4h ago

You can't argue with _subjective_ taste. Some people are going to like games you find crappy. I'm happy not everyone has the same taste.

Kornholic20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

@swedishMeatwad

PS5 Pro is obviously objectively the better product when compared to the base PS5, but the majority of consumers interested in a PS5 will not be picking Pro over base PS5.

There are countless examples like this out there.

The_Blue1d 12h ago

Rather you like it or not COD has many accessible options and customization that allows for better experience than most other FPS.

Knightofelemia2d ago

The Palworld has been out since January of 2024 and now Nintendo finally decides to do something. I fail to see how Palworld is like Pokemon besides evolving monsters. There are other games out there as well where you can capture and level up monsters. Tales of Symphonia 2 does that capture monsters and have them fight with you and they evolve when levelling up. The two games might share some similarities but what game doesn't borrow from another game. I could understand if Palworld was just a straight on copy clone of Pokemon but it's not. Nintendo is starting to become a pain in the ass. Going full gung ho with rom sites that I can see, purposely taking down pictures from a strategy guide for Mario 64 the strategy guide never came to North America and Nintendo had the pictures taken down. Where does it every stop with Nintendo?

babadivad1d 15h ago

Monsters don't evolve in Palworld

Software_Lover1d 11h ago

It's because Palworld became a worldwide viral success. Nintendo can't fathom someone else being that popular when it comes to a small monster catching game.

VersusDMC1d 11h ago

Nintendo is only acting now because they just finished a lawsuit which they won.

https://www.nintendolife.co...

Atlus should get on this and sue Nintendo as SMT came out before Pokemon. If Nintendo is going to play this game.

isarai1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

This feels like a scare tactic more than anything else. There's nothing here dozens of other games haven't already done, they're just mad this game showed people how much the pokemon series has been slackin and are desperately trying to make an example out of them.

How's about instead of spending all that money on court fees and lawyers you invest it into making pokémon better?

Profchaos1d 15h ago

I think if it was a scare tactic it would have happened when the game came out I have a feeling they've been building a case for a while

isarai1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

It did happen even before the game came out, they tried several tomes before and nothing came of it

Profchaos1d 15h ago

I was pretty sure the only statement they made was they would investigate

OtterX12d ago

The red light district, where games go to w**** themselves for Gamepass cash.

Asterphoenix13d ago

Well Nintendo and Squaresoft is where he started. I totally understand why he doesn't want to do FF now. If so I'm happy for either a remaster of Last Story or a new entry/spiritual successor. Loved the battle system of Last Story.

porkChop13d ago

I just really want a new Lost Odyssey, or even a proper remaster with some QoL updates. Though I'd also love to see him work with Square on a new IP.

Profchaos13d ago

That's about as good as a confirmation that we will see ports to the switch2

Knightofelemia13d ago

Wish my parents bought me a NES as a kid I would have played the first FF game. But I was lucky to have a SNES I played a bit of FF6 and just went to Chrono Trigger. When the FF collection releases I-VI Collection Anniversary drops I will take my time to play each Final Fantasy.

Deathdeliverer12d ago

I mean… this is kinda obvious. The original final fantasy and its early sequels were on…

Random: Fans Are Begging Nintendo's Ex President To Sell His N64 Collection

When ex-President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, showed off a portion of his N64 collection on social media, we suspect he probably wasn't anticipating a wave of offers from potential buyers.

That'll be amazing maybe lost media too

Profchaos12d ago

Imagine the irony if he had the only known copy of mother 3 on the n64 dd

TheNamelessOne13d ago

Mine will be worth a small fortune in the future.

Knightofelemia13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Why should he sell his collection? It's his collection if he wants to sell then that is his decision maybe he wants to save it as a nest egg or pass it down to his kids. That's like asking the AVGN to sell his giant collection plus the Nintoaster. Or like asking Jay Leno to sell his car collection. Collectors like to brag, show off, and explain the history or the rarity. Be lucky Mr. Ex Predisent even gave you a glimpse of his collection.

Profchaos12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

I think it great he shows off his collection it shows that despite the criticisms he got he really wasn't just a suit and truely loved the games and that really shows in the fact that he still talks about Nintendo years after departing the company we need more Reggie and less matrck in gaming
