What Skyrim Looks Like When You’re Running 100 Mods At Once

Kotaku - My copy of Skyrim would usually fall over once I started running more than, say, 8-10 mods at once. So I've got no idea how modder Unreal has managed to get around 100 mods running at once. I'm just going to assume sorcery.

DoomeDx4192d ago

Playstation 3 version looks better then this.

Dasteru4192d ago

If you were to try running this level of detail on the PS3 you wouldn't even be able to measure it in FPS anymore. It would be SPF.

DoomeDx4192d ago

lol @ you for thinking i was being serious

Dasteru4192d ago (Edited 4192d ago )

Don't worry lol i knew you were joking.

You would need to be either blind as a bat or immensely stupid to actually believe that so it was quite obvious.

Also none of the disagree's on either of your comments were from me.

Flavor4192d ago

Hate to break your heart fellow PC gamer, but the maker of the grass mod states clearly that he gets '5 to 30' fps with his mods on. At 1280 by 720.

On a PC with an overclocked gtx 670.

Here read the FAQs: http://www.asot.es/2001/09/...

There's a reason these are still screen captures, kekekeke.

Mocat4192d ago

@flavor

Also the gameplay with an ENB mod is not very good very blurry most of the time, but the visuals are indeed very good

vortis4192d ago

@Mocat

ENB's blur effect NEVER looked good. I always hated it. Even when I was getting 30+ FPS the blur made the game feel like it was 15FPS trying to feign 30fps. It hurt my eyes and did nothing for the game.

I guess Vorontsov just likes adding in blur for testing purposes, but it has yet to have any "real-world" purpose in improving the visual quality or gameplay immersion for any game.

HardCover4191d ago

Flavor: You can turn that down slightly and get 50+ fps on a typical gamer's PC. This is not the most taxing mod out there.

SnotyTheRocket4191d ago

Guys, i'm almost 150% sure he was kidding.

AKS4191d ago

@Flavor

If you're implying that mods that enhance graphics tend to cripple frame rates, that's not necessarily true. Some definitely do, but then again some in-game options built into games like ubersampling in The Witcher 2 show very modest benefits yet can easily cut the frame rate in half. On the other hand, some of the mods I've used with Skyrim have dramatically improved the visuals at a very modest performance cost.

100 demanding mods of course is going to be rough, but I don't have a problem running Skyrim with some decent mods with a single card.

Hope playstation 4 looks like that ...

andibandit4192d ago

Unlikely, but i've found graphics that will problably be close to what we can expect from bethesda:

http://preview.turbosquid.c...

Dee_914191d ago

the grass most likely not,lighting and textures could depending on the developer of course

AKS4191d ago

@andibandit

Was that picture taken after the fourth patch?

Blackdeath_6634191d ago

don't get your hopes up with bethesda always get their games on PC otherwise avoid buying them at launch and take extra caution if you are buying ps3 version. hopefully with the next gen the incompetent developers over at bethesda maybe able to make a game that would actually work. it is really unfortunate that this is the case since i like the elder scrolls.

@Dasteru
^ Good lol.

People really lose their sense of humor when its about a gaming console.

Its just scary

SonyPS3604191d ago

Said no one with working eyes, ever.

The Ps3 is the weakest of all the versions.

StraightPath4191d ago

oh my eyes...this is beyond crazy next generation consoles would not be able to pull those graphics this is amazing

Gamer19824191d ago

PCs will in about 5-6 years though as standard. A top range PC could just about do it now with huge overclocks. So a gamer PC in about 2 years could do this. Thats just after the launch of PS4 and Xbox 720 PC graphics could potentially be this good.

wastedcells4191d ago

Ya don't wiiU games look this good ?

JackRipper4191d ago

Why do so many people disagree? That was a funny comment my man!

fatstarr4191d ago

yea 37 ps3's duct taped together.

kingdavid4191d ago

Looks incredible. The art style actually sorta reminds me of halo actually, obviously at a much higher level of course.

Kinda went crazy with the bloom and depth of field there, but it is pretty, I'll say.

DoomeDx4192d ago

That picture looks like vanilla skyrim. On PC.

guitarded774192d ago

My computer can't even run those screenshots :(

2pacalypsenow4191d ago (Edited 4191d ago )

@DoomeDx no it doesnt the reg graphics still suck on the pc . They are miles better than PS3/xbox but they dont look like that

Tonester9254192d ago

The only thing that stood out was the realistic "looking" grass lol

Pretty awesome! I have to run skyrim on all the lowest graphic settings :( So I'll just try to live vicariously through these photos.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast37d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22937d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko37d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave37d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan37d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
