Wii U Deluxe Set is selling out quickly? How about it is all but sold out. I don't think any retailer has any Deluxe models left for preorder. Not this close to launch anyways. If anyone wants one now, they will be camping out overnight.

Summons754198d ago

yeah, I'm sure some stores held a couple for walk-ins but even those if there are any will be gone within the first hour sunday.

krazykombatant4198d ago

got mine already pre-ordered, sadly I have work till midnight, and once I get it I can't open it cuz its my sisters gift from santa.

Ilovetheps54198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

Yeah, Gamestop apparently let too many people preorder the Wii U Deluxe. I called them yesterday to see if they were having a midnight release and they told me that they wouldn't be getting enough units to fulfill preorders. It was a first come first serve for people that preordered them. I'm disappointed that even though I was the first person to preorder at my Gamestop, I still might not get a Wii U. If I don't get my unit on Wednesday, Gamestop will have lost my business for good.

PopRocks3594198d ago

The best way to combat that is to go in early. Almost everything Gamestop does seems to be on a "first come, first served" basis. Believe me, I was the third person at my Gamestop to preorder the Wii U and they're only going to get somewhere between twelve to fifteen units.

Granted my store is a smaller one, but whatever. Either way, I'm going to be at my store at the opening hour. I suggest you do the same if you have the time.

Ilovetheps54198d ago

PopRocks,

I will be there when they open the doors up. It is just kind of frustrating that they would allow themselves to preorder more units than they are getting. I'm just hoping everyone else doesn't get the same idea to go when the doors open.

Trago13374198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

Am i the only person in the world getting the Basic model?! lol, i mean all my other consoles are black so i thought it would be nice to have one stand out, plus the extra 50 bucks for nintendo land didn't do it for me, i'd rather put that money towards ZombiU :P

darthv724198d ago

Im getting both the basic and deluxe. The basic is for the kids game room and the deluxe is for the big tv.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34198d ago

I don't like my black consoles shiny, I prefer them with a matte finish, which is why I would prefer a white deluxe model. The way Nintendo is pushing the black one has me thinking the white model may become a rare item in the future.

Neonridr4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

Well you definitely aren't the only one who has the basic. But you might be one of the few who is actually excited at getting a white one.

NintendoLand didn't necessarily do it for me but it will be something to play with friends around to show off the various features. The charging cradle looks very handy, and that's $20 on it's own. The 32GB internal storage is at least a little more acceptable, although I will be hooking up an external hard drive to it. Throw in the 10% digital purchases rebate until the end of 2014 and you could potentially have quite a lot of savings on your hand. I know I will be purchasing Trine 2 and Little Inferno from the eShop on Day 1.

Ultimately whatever you are happy with is your decision. Personally I like the White as well, but the Black looks sleek too. I agree that the white would stand out more. Regardless, we will both be playing the Wii U on Sunday.

Like the great Michael Jackson once said,
"It doesn't matter if you're Black or White."

It's been sold out for awhile now. Both versions have...

beerkeg4198d ago

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Time's just ticking away now.

Neonridr4198d ago

I tried it out today at my local electronics store. It was just a demo of Rayman, but the game handled beautifully. And the gamepad was so light, I was shocked. The screen looks really good, and the game incorporated the touch screen very well.

I shouldn't have touched it because now I can't wait to play it on Sunday. It will be a tough couple of sleeps before then..

tweet754198d ago

its because retailers are getting way fewer wii u consoles deluze than they should because of nintendos "artificial shortage" marketing strategy. The same thing that happened with wii.

Series_IIa4198d ago

Hey guys lets make a new product... and not let many people have one, it will make us money quick.

WiiUalpha4198d ago

Waste of time. He read it somewhere and now jsut runs with it as fact. Most of us know how stupid it would be for a company that needs sales, to get 3rd party support, and then to limit those sales to create some fake demand.

Anytime a Nintendo product sales its because of fake demand but if a Sony item is selling at same pace then its just everyone wants one.

Qrphe4198d ago

They just undershoot on the amount of units they should have sent out. I was hoping they'd supply enough units to meet all the demand (for Nintendo's and the consumers' good). I'm sure they'll do a great job at supplying enough for Christmas however.

@WiiUalpha

It's not fake demand, it'd be fake demand if they lied about demand that wasn't there. This may be demand that was created by Nintendo, but it's still very real.

rainslacker4197d ago

It's a pretty common marketing strategy. If the demand gets higher due to being hard to find then more people come to know about it. It's not about making quick money, it's more about getting more people to know about the system which makes them more money in the long run over a short term gain.

Nintendo did it with the original Wii, however the demand really exploded with the casual market, and there was a real supply shortage.

Qrphe has it right though, it's not fake demand, there are plenty of people that still want it. However, Nintendo could be holding back on available supply. This guys comment reeked of PR and basically says "This will be the big thing this holiday".

Also they wouldn't want to sell every system within the first few days anyways. It can take a month or two to replenish a significant stock to ship out. Having the system completely off the market opens the doors for Sony/MS to swoop in and take their holiday sales.

That being said these systems will probably be hard to find this holiday, regardless of whether the demand is inflated due to manufactured short supply from Nintendo, or because of overwhelming demand and actual short supply.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno9d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
