Sony Tease Video "The Arrival"

Sony has released a second mysterious video following the one shared a few days ago, known as "The Reload".

FunAndGun4205d ago

OK, these definitely have to do with Battle Royale.

First one features Cole from inFAMOUS and this one features Drake from Uncharted.

Would be cool if there were some live action fight sequences in the full commercial instead of everyone just standing around...not that the first Michael commercial was bad or anything.

Someone needs to decipher the message on the typewriter!!!

-Alpha4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

Typewriter:

"DEAR COPERNICUS (That's Captain Qwark from R&C) WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR LETTER AND REGRET TO INFORM YOU CAPTAIN"

Also, the first teaser had DMC and Ape Escape references. This one references Uncharted, and R&C so far.

Has to be for All Stars. They can both advertise Michael 2 (PS3 commercial) and the commercial for All Stars at the same time. This game needs to have a strong advertising campaign as it is Sony's biggest title for this Christmas, and a damn good one at that

smashcrashbash4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

Hold on a second. How do you guys know what the typewriter has written on it? It's just a bunch of symbols. How do you know what they mean? Is it some type of real language?

FunAndGun4205d ago

Damn Alpha, you are on top of things!!

NICE!

Relientk774205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

@ smashcrashbash

http://www.analoghype.com/v...

"TimeEffect and Skidd of Neogaf, have confirmed that the text on the typewriter is actually the Lombax language from Ratchet and Clank, not Jak and Daxter. They also have a full translation of what was shown"

it reads “Dear Copernicus, (Copernicus L. Qwark?)
We have received your letter and regret to inform you captai-"

"And it’s Captain Qwark’s rejection letter from the roster! How attentive of Superbot! Thanks to the guys at Neogaf for the translation!"

-Alpha4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

^ It's Lombax font from Ratchet and Clank

And the font in the license plate is from Jak and Daxter

The letter is a rejection notice to Qwark lol.

gaffyh4205d ago

Yep, has to be for All-Stars

Blastoise4205d ago

Nice work -Alpha. Intelligent Bubble for ya.

I think it is All-stars, I'm looking forward to more ads. Maybe each character will appear and check in with the receptionist lol.

All-stars Beta is a blast by the way

Blastoise4205d ago

Also, check out the reflection on the car at about 19 seconds in. If you pause at the right time you can see the guys got a shotgun. Gotta be Drake :)

360ICE4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

The number plate on the car reads "MORGAN!" in precursor writing (Jak & Daxter). Little idea who Morgan would be.

Ah, it's one of Naughty Dog's old dogs.

mt4205d ago

alpha I wish there is geek bubble, I would so give that to you, but there is less than that there is intelligent bubble

Yes the type writer! As soon as I saw that I searched to see if it had been decoded yet. Couldnt find anything but this is Defiantly PSASBR. Hope there is a live action fight club video.

Amplitude4205d ago

If you look at the yellow text on the girl's nametag on the desk (actually, it's in the thumbnail) it says Saru Get You, which is the name of the Ape Escape TV show in Japan >.>

GraveLord4205d ago

Live action fight sequences? yeah....no. That would be really lame.

Mykky4205d ago

First one features cole from inFAMOUS, "Sara! Get You!" From Ape Escape and the gun from MGS Zeroes trailer.
Second one features the "Dear Copernicus" thing which is Captain Quark from Ratchet and Clank. Symbol from Uncharted and the sign of the back of the car which is from Jak and Dexter.

This means Snake from Ground Zeroes, Ratchet and Clank, and Ape Escape is confirmed for All Stars Battle Royale.

Ace_Pheonix4205d ago

It's a Scorpion. I don't see how it being in Ground Zeroes is all that significant for this trailer. They are a very common submachine gun. Beyond everything I could want for in All Stars is for Big Boss to be the end boss, and be playable after beating him, but I really feel like having a Scorpion in a trailer is really grasping at straws. And we aren't even 100% sure these teasers will even relate to All Stars. Michael didn't promote any one game.

gintoki7774205d ago

the setting looks similar to mgs4 European level where you sneak through the city.

RmanX10004205d ago

Im pretty sure this is related to Battle Royale... Other than that im stumped...

Relientk774205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

Ok this has to be PS All-Stars related,

we got font from Ratchet & Clank on the type writer

and then if you pause at 0:13 and then 0:18, 0:19 slowly, you can see jeans, a belt, his white shirt, his brown overshirt, gun holster, and his dark hair, this is clearly Nathan Drake (look at the Uncharted 2 box art).

LarVanian4205d ago

If you pause at 0:10 you can see that the license plate has the symbols of a precursor orb from Jak & Daxter. Nice little detail.

-Alpha4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

It says MORGAN in Precursor language:

http://i.fonts2u.com/pr/mp1...

Morgan: http://jakanddaxter.wikia.c...

Relientk774205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

Nice Alpha you are all over this

edit @ below: yea, Alpha definitely agree, I love these viral videos as advertising, very clever and awesome videos, very well put together.

-Alpha4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

^ I got the Morgan story from GAF, but I'm the one who translated the R&C one on there ;)

This viral advertising is so great, Michael has 11 Million views, and as a PlayStation fan, it's such great fan service, but even regular fans love Long. Live. Play. Let's hope Sony cranks this up for Christmas

Adva4205d ago

IS this POSSIBLY going to reveal the final boss? All characters are coming back to the tavern to face off against him/her?

Knight_Crawler4205d ago

Would be awesome if the final boss is a red ringed 360 :)

Tomonobu Itagaki4205d ago

It would be fun if Microsoft agreed to let one of their characters as the final boss for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, like Master Chief or Marcus Fenix.

It's very unlikely, but it would be a nice move.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies14h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken9h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 1h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 1h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d ago (Edited 1d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d ago (Edited 1d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt12h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken9h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 6h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 6h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 5h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies19h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
