The Media Create software sales are looking quite spectacular for the week of 9//10-9/16 with Nintendo software controlling 7 of 10 spots in the top 10. Quite positive while keeping the industry healthy as a whole.

Things are already looking amazing even before the launch of the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system. Which I hope to see soon land its very own amount of software placements on the top charts. It has been documented that the Nintendo product line controls over %70 of the Japanese industry sales. Lets hope that can and will turn into a whopping %80 before the end of the year.

Your enthusiasm is commendable tho i disagree with your philosophy.. Entertaining i must say.. But Japan is but a small spec on the world map & 3rd party software does not dominate in other territories on Nintendo platforms.. !st party is far stronger.. That will hurt us if 3rd party cant sell.. They will cease to exist outside of japan if things dont pick up... I own 3DS & got fair amount of entertainment however things look very dry from 3rd party out here in the US.. Castlevania & Code of Princess are the only games i see worth looking at from now until march.. Not good, just sayin..

As much as I enjoy your posts as well. They are entertaining, even if usually in a negative toward the Nintendo umbrella. The Nintendo product line is doing just fine outside of Japan. 1st and 3rd party. Especially 1st party. This is one of those situation where you should worry about the well being of your own brand of choice instead of the industry leading Nintendo brand.

Just because you only find 2 3rd party exclusives appealing does not mean everyone else feels the same. And when it comes down to handhelds it is safe to say Nintendo will do just fine in that department as well. The Nintendo 3DS entertainment system is shattering previous handheld records. It only takes a short skim through worldwide charts to see that there are other struggling handhelds doing far worse than what Nintendo has accomplished. Nintendo games may it be 1st or 3rd party actually have lifespan within the top 10 charts.

So if you believe the Nintendo product line is not selling up to standards, I am scared to even imagine for a second the horrific nightmare of what you think of others as far as sales go.

You're right, but I seem to remember when Japanese sales were important to n4g users. Strangely when ps3 was number 1 for an extended period of time. Wonder why that was.

I own wii & 3DS XL, & every console nintendo has released.. I am worried about the well being of my brands.. 1st party games on nintendo arent of any concern to me as i know they will always be there.. 3rd party however is another story.. U cant tell me the whole world wants finding nemo & all that other casual mess out there cuz none of it is topping the charts.. All that tops the charts in the west on nintendo platforms is Nintendo games.. if a 3rd party game rises like KHDDD, it falls rapidly.. Just like Sony titles however sony sells the hell out of 3rd party games on their systems.. Vita hasnt began to take flight yet but rest assured, it will.. Especially with the lack of new IPs coming from the competition.. I dont see any wii games on any charts at all.. Just DS,3DS, PSP, Vita, PS3.. Sony has 3 systems thats moving software.. Companies wont build games for a system they cant sell on & if they do, itl be a 1/2 a$$3d job.. Just like 90% of whats available from 3rd party on em.. I worry about the industry as a whole (minus MS) & from what things look like, all that will ever come from the big N is another wave of the same IPs.. Selling well, but little new to see... Japan gets much better software than westerners

That is a respectable response.

As far as the Nintendo Wii entertainment system goes, you likely will never see any games on that platform on the top anywhere ever again. We are in the eye of release of the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system. Not many will be rushing out to get games for a last generation console when the next generation of that respective brand begins in about 2 months time.

As far as Kingdom hearts DDD goes. It did take a crack at the top 10 charts, and is not deemed to failure. Handhelds have a different standard to survival and failure due to the lack of needed resources to produce those titles. The Nintendo 3DS is effectively a PS2 when it comes to graphical capability and I can imagine it is not too difficult to break even on one of those offerings. Especially with the standard and resources needed to create games on HD consoles, and HD high spec handhelds in the industry today.

Titles on Sonys respective handheld are likely higher in production cost due to the tech found inside. Which results in those devs needing to sell many more copies of their title than a Nintendo 3DS entertainment system offering.

As far as Nintendo IPs go. Nintendo has many new IPs under the Nintendo umbrella each generation. Whether you choose to pay attention to them or not is your own doing. Nintendos most popular in house exclusive brands obviously sell the most. They are critically acclaimed and have been around for many many moons. Those said titles are also some of the highest rated, most respected exclusive offerings in the industry. So yes, they do get a leg up on the competition, even 3rd party titles. And just as any other Corporate brand in gaming. You will continue to see the successful IPs return again and again. That is just business. People cry and get emotional when the successful ones do not return. Ask any Half Life fan. I have been crying in a corner over the lack of Starfox for years now. Creating too many new IPs that the people are not willing to purchase brings about financial loss, and the closing of studios.

If we are talking about Sony software now then fine. Sony has 2 platforms moving software, the PSP and the PS3. I would like a link to see what that 3rd platform is at the time as far as moving software goes. The Vita has not taken flight excuse if you may call it does not fly with me. It has been out long enough to garner a respectable install base. Nobody else is to blame for that but the in house corporation that priced the unit as much as a home console.

'Titles on Sonys respective handheld are likely higher in production cost due to the tech found inside. Which results in those devs needing to sell many more copies of their title than a Nintendo 3DS entertainment system offering.'.

Hmm, I seem to recall Nintendo going on and on about how cheap it is to develop for the Wii. When it came down to it, only tried and tested Nintendo IPs sold on the console, leaving a legion of shovelware devs pumping out garbage that never sold.

Wall of texts. So long.

rainslacker4232d ago

It's actually kind of rare to see two opposing viewpoints on these subjects that are both actually correct...more or less. And Kaos is always good fun.

LX-General-Kaos4232d ago

Thank you for your support. I hope to see many more people with less hate and more debate in the future.

r214232d ago

True, also if Divine Assault had more bubbles, it couldve been a longer wall.

rainslacker4232d ago

Debate is always fun if done properly, especially since I love to argue.:)

Sanquine904232d ago

Before i thought that koas was an ass , but now after reading some of his comments i have much respect for this guy. He does not start flamewars and talks with respect over other game companies.

LX-General-Kaos4231d ago

That is appreciated. There is no need to be negative toward any surviving videogame corporation.

Sanquine904231d ago

Beyond Kaos , Beyond! Hail Nintendo! For their great first party exclusives ( Pre ordered the wii U zombie U bundle) and Hail sony for giving me the Ps1/Ps2/ps3 and vita ( sorry bro)

I kinda wish Accel World was coming over. But I'll settle for Hatsune Miku.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies10h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken5h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6921h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker21h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6920h ago(Edited 20h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt8h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken5h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 2h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 2h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 1h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies15h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
