This confused me until I realised they meant 'American' football.

DanielBryan4297d ago

American football is Rugby for wimps.

ChunkyLover534297d ago

That's what they say, but American football is more refined and has strategy and grace and you have to remember plays and its a really amazing sport. Cant say I've ever played Rugby or care to, but I played high school and college football and its not for wimps in the least. Especially playing in Florida.

On topic, NFL2K5 was amazing, NFL Fever was great too, I also have fond memories of 989's Gameday. Good times.

BigPappaPump4297d ago

Bet a wimpy high school team could tackle you all night and day.

DanielBryan4297d ago

Nah,they'd be too busy whipping each others asses with wet towels in the locker room.

shackdaddy4297d ago

I've played a very good share of both and I can say each has their place. I'd say Rugby is a bit tougher but for Football - players don't hold back as much when hitting since they have pads on...

Outside_ofthe_Box4297d ago

Rugby players wouldn't stand a chance in the NFL. Where as NFL players wouldn't have too much trouble adjusting to rugby.

I consider ruby a sport for football rejects.

DanielBryan4297d ago

American Football=A game where you run around with the ball in your hands.
American Football and Rugby both suck anyway.Football or soccer to dumb ass Americans is the only real football anyway.AF is just for padded up sissy boys.

Outside_ofthe_Box4297d ago

***"AF is just for padded up sissy boys."***

LOL Only people that have never played football say this. .

You should have no trouble making millions in the NFL then since you know you'd be up against a bunch of "sissy boys" eh?/s

I enjoyed Cyberball, but I'd much prefer to see Mutant League Football or even Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl, even if it just vaguely resembled the actual sport.

MrKingofVideoGames4297d ago (Edited 4297d ago )

I second the suggestions for Mutant League Football and 989's PS1 Gameday's... how's 'bout NFL Football on the Intellivision and Joe Montana Sport's Talk Football and Genesis, too?

BTW (bring on the hate)but NFL 2K5 is overrated.

In no order and the top of my head

1. NFL Quarterback Club(SNES)
2. NFL 2K5(PS2)
3. Tecmo Bowl Series(NES/SNES)
4. John Elway' Quarterback(NES)
5. I would like to say Blitz but I want all sim football choices.

Tecmo Bowl VS. Tecmo Bowl: Throwback

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "We only have a few weeks left in our look at whether certain game remakes trumped their predecessors and this sixth part we are turning our attention from Dracula’s castle to the gridiron for a match between Tecmo Bowl and its modern remake Tecmo Bowl: Throwback. Now I’m not the biggest football fan (hockey is more my speed) but I loved playing Tecmo Bowl back in the day on the NES, especially in multiplayer. The game wasn’t really all that much about football but a great competitive, arcade-style experience that could be experienced just as well by sports fans and casual gamers alike. In 2010 the game was remade (using mechanics from its sequel Tecmo Super Bowl) as Tecmo Bowl: Throwback, a more modern take on the classic for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s digital stores."
