[RaceSimCentral] NASCAR The Game 2011 DLC Free for PS3, Paid for 360

After months of waiting for what was supposed to be a free update to get the 2011 season, one can only imagine the shock from fans on the Xbox 360 side of the camp. While PlayStation 3 owners will get the 2011 season DLC for free, Xbox 360 users will have to shell out 160 MS Points.

I think valve had the same problem, they wanted DLC free and MS said no and charged for it....I think it was L4D2, but not positive.

NukaCola4674d ago

L4D DLC was free on PC but expensive on 360. There was a little uproar. I am not going to flip over this. It's not my brand of entertainment regardless if the DLC is free.

paladinaz4674d ago

Its MS... Awful company, pirating Windows should be legal.

OtherWhiteMeat4674d ago (Edited 4674d ago )

If pirating was legal then it wouldn't be pirating. Not such a big deal,Xbox owners have to cough up two bucks.

PirateThom4674d ago

How is paying for DLC that is free on another platform not a big deal? It's a huge problem.

OtherWhiteMeat4674d ago

The amount is about the same as a bottle of coke and not everyone is going to worry too much over a couple of bucks. Now paying $60.00 a game seems like a much bigger problem and as always DLC is optional.

PirateThom4674d ago

It's not the cost, it's a fact there's a cost where there shouldn't be a cost.

UltimateIdiot9114674d ago

Perhaps, I should charge you for free samples or the free water from the fountain. Everyone else gets it free.

OtherWhiteMeat4674d ago (Edited 4674d ago )

So at the end of the day Microsoft walks away with a pocket full of cash and Sony empty handed.Right or wrong Microsoft knows how to make money.Usually at the gamers expense.

radphil4674d ago

@OtherWhiteMeat

And that's not an issue to you with them flat out exploiting?

I didn't know MS did these kind of things, but thats pretty awful basically you're paying them 2 dollars and not the developers...disgraceful

negroguy4674d ago

Wonder how much it cost to maintain XBL. I know M$ makes some serious cash on it every year which is why I don't understand why they wouldn't let it be free.

DrFUD4674d ago (Edited 4674d ago )

they wont let it be free because they have all their 360 customers brains in a jar. They cant open the jar or else one brain might get out and try to take another with it because it stinks. At the top of the jar theres a money slot and thats the only way in...there is no out. The 360 customer is a slave.

Insomnia_844674d ago

Well said DrFUD. That's exactly the way I've seen the XBL gamer for a long time.

9 years later, developers weigh in on making games for the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 generation

"The Wii is the most successful of them all in terms of lifetime sales—Nintendo has sold more than 100 million devices, with Xbox 360 at 84 million and PS3 at 80 million sold—but only the PS3 and Xbox 360 continue on nearly a decade after they launched."

They have done well

In the end the cell processor will be a foot note in the history books due to the difficulty they all had.

Good to see Sony adopt the unified memory of the 360 over the previous dedicated memory, much more versatile.

I feel last generation in its entirety was ok at best.

The first several years were looking promising when devs were taking risks on games only to get dumbed down by shooters hindering any other devs to create games that were similar to the PS2 and OG Xbox era in a fear of getting drowned out by some shooter.

That's not the publishers fault per say the cost of games were rising higher than any publisher expected which forced them to stick with a franchise for allot longer.

Leaving wealth of variety with the likes of PS2 era out the door.

I blame mostly COD 4. If COD never became as big as it did maybe we would see more variety or a return to fan favorites.

I'm not saying there were no gems because they certainly were but notthing like 2 gens ago. When games were interesting, very fun and innovative.

sprinterboy3589d ago

I stopped reading at 360 @ 84 million and ps3 @ 80million

yeahright23589d ago

The math was off, sure, as I believe as of last count the ps3 was a tad ahead of the 360 but the article was still a good read.

AngelicIceDiamond3589d ago

No the 360 is at 84M they announced it a month ago.

Magicite3589d ago

I will remember 7th gen as most forgettable one.

Godmars2903589d ago

Nothing about the whole gen being overreaching, overhyped and pretty much went in the wrong direction I bet.

Master-H3589d ago

"Xbox 360 at 84 million and PS3 at 80 million sold" dafuq ? do we live in alternate universes ?

RosweeSon3589d ago

Many developers had a hard time wrapping their heads around the PS3 during the console’s first few years... Is this the problem xbox one now finds itself in, I personally don't think so just don't think the box is up to the job either way Microsoft and their xbox one are gonna find themselves in the same place as the ps3, not a great position to be in hence why sony stepped it up as they didn't wanna settle for second best or 3rd even ;)

Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance | Game Mob

An uninspiring trailer of ‘Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance’ but backed by a Warhammer 40K license, deep down I yearned for something special to arise from it. Instead, I combatted in a dreadful attempt of a strategy game which successfully met my initial low expectations due to lackluster gameplay, uniformity, and outdated design. To make matters worse, Eutechnyx appears to have repurposed their previous game Ninja Cats Vs Samurai Dogs.
