Ian Fisher writes: Comfortably sitting atop the DK leaderboard for some time, Steve Wiebe’s high-score has now been topped by Hank Chien, who is now the current King of Kong. Chien got a very strong score of 1,068,000 which only took him 2 hours and 45 minutes to achieve. Wiebe’s previous score was 1,062,800 so Chien just barely edged out Wiebe and didn’t obliterate the previous record.
Guess I know what my kids and I are playing tonight! Looks just our speed. (They sure as heck aren’t playing Sony’s stealth-dropped free Silent Hill.)
After a collaboration with Nintendo of America, the Strong Museum has managed to build the world's largest Donkey Kong arcade game machine.
Is it the Seth Rogen version? Oh wait, that's part of the season pass, isn't it?
It's Mario Day! Celebrate with these ten Mario games referenced in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie!
Impressive -- Steve is, in my opinion, the best of the best though. He'll beat it again. Billy might beat it in between then and now, but Steve will ultimately go down as the best.
My top score in Donkey Kong, as arcade gaming is really all I care about, is 333,677. Can't top out on it. My only trick is jumping into the top left wall that stops you from getting to Donkey Kong on the 1st level, jumping into that wall as a barrel is underneath you and it'll rack up triple points for the initial jump and then another triple points as you clear the barrel again. Then, finally you can jump the barrel one more time for a total of 1000 points for one barrel.
Learned that long ago on the nes version of Donkey Kong classics and carried it over to the arcade version.
g'luck to Steve this weekend.
Hoping Nintendo will release the arcade DK on virtual console... :(
