Who would have ever thought we’d come this far in the gaming industry? No longer is the artform something for kids only. No, gaming has extented its reach and come E3, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are planning to take the revolution even further.
But Microsoft’s plans are more ambitious than Sony and Nintendo’s combined in the motion sensing department. In fact the software giant is planning something so big, so great, that it’s hired one of the most popular networks, MTV, to witness the Project Natal experience live.
And what’s this “The Lo” that’s getting Matt Singley, Sr. Dir. of Social Media Strategy for the Xbox and Zune divisions so excited about?
WolfEye Studios boss and Arkane founder Raphael Colantonio understandably remains frustrated by Microsoft's decision to kill off Arkane Austin earlier this year.
Well.. they did make Red Fall and release it in such a state. The backlash Xbox received was mostly for Tango Game works.
to be very fair tho, Redfall wasnt all that good and didnt sell all too well either.
Call of Duty’s development process will stay the same under Microsoft’s ownership, with no planned changes to its structure.
Now EA's following suit as well in order to compete with this CoD of a juggernaut sort of head 2 head ...
i.e employing 4+ studios for the next Battlefield game.
DICE for multiplayer, Criterion Games for single player/MP, Motive for single player, Ripple Effect for a "new experience".
Thats... a lot of teams. That's why it's so hard to compete with COD. It's also why PlayStation is so vital to Xbox now. That's a lot of people who need to be paid.
15 studios is A LOT. That’s honestly insane. I thought 3 or 4 was kind of crazy but I suppose it took 3 years for 4 or 5 of studios to make the last one and if they’re coming out yearly still then maybe it’s still just 5 studios per release. I’d imagine 15 studios managing one single game would be far too complicated with way too many cooks.
Could be a good opportunity maybe for EA and SIE to start a collaboration with Battlefield.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood had records to boast for the gaming business and Game Pass.
YES!!!
"We set new records for monthly active users in the quarter as more players than ever play our games across devices and on the Xbox platform. Game Pass also set a new Q1 record for total revenue and average revenue per subscriber and as we look ahead, our IP across our Studios has never been stronger.”"
Gamepass is the GOAT!!!
“Last week’s launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever setting a record for day one players as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day, and unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60% year-over-year."
Gamepass didn´t stop COD from continue to be a sales juggernaut across all platforms worldwide!
I can see even more new games coming day on Gamepass as it continues to grow seeing a huge influx of new subscribers, paying for Ultimate to get access to day one games.
Let´s Go!!!
"as more players than ever play our games across devices and on the Xbox platform."
To be honest, fair & humble: this wasn't really hard to achieve in the first place though. If you care for context.
But good for them.
Boom for GP is always good. Hopefully Stalker 2 and Indy continue the momentum this holiday and continue it next year with Doom, Avowed and Fable.
'Game Pass also set a new Q1 record for total revenue and average revenue per subscriber'
That literally just means 'we put subscription prices up'
They need to be growing the base, as you can only milk the current base so much.
Microsoft might be shooting way to high here with all this Natal stuff. I'm telling you this might fail, and fail hard.
Take into account that the Zune has been a complete failure.
Lost?
tlo?
The Lord of the Rings?
Shawty Lo??? (look him up) lol
