is why there's no digital optical out on the 360. Im not sure if there's one with the elite, but if youve got an awesome sound system and an HDTV you need it to get the best possible sound. Really bugs me.

it's on the component cable which they no longer include. If you want to use spdif out and hdmi together you either have to make alterations to the component cable(take off the plastic shell so it will fit) or you have to buy a dongle for like $15-$20 or so off ebay.

It's on the scart/RGB cable with the switch which came with older box's. Not sure the newer box's have that type of cable but I think you can buy a litle optical thing.

It has an HDMI output. If you have an "awsome" audio system, then it should have multiple HDMI inputs and one output (so you can run all of your equipment through the reciever and have one HDMI going to your HDTV).

This is the advantage of HDMI, so both high-def sound and high-def video can go through one cable.

I doubt MS will try and get their next xbox out any time soon. I think if they did, it would hurt them this time. Say if they announced xbox 3 for 2011; Sony will probably wait 2 maybe 3 years and release the ps4, and by that time the xbox 3 would look like what the ps2 games look compared to the ps3.

Sell the adaptor with the Red and White Audio ports and optical port seperatly, they used to include it with the Elite my Red Elite came with it but from what I know they dont include it with the Elite anymore.

I'm sorry if this deal appeals to all of you gamers. But for years I have never had a problem that I couldnt fix, or a problem that was critical. The Xbox for that matter has always given me problems, even the last gen xbox that I owned had the red ring (YES ITS TRUE). I am here for quality. To be honest this reminds me of people that sell bargins in which the product only lasts like a year. I would put my money to something that actually works and is reliable.

They're not.

By bundling 12 months of live they're getting another household hooked into gamertags, FPS clans etc. This means an extra $40 in 12 months but, more importantly to MS, an extra advocate of the 720 for the future.

nothing too drastic. outside of the two things you mentioned they are pretty much the same. The arcade has an onboard memory card. The elite has a headset that I don't know if the arcade has.

Something you must know is that playing online with wifi is not so responsive as ethernet and the closer wi fi to ethernet is N WIFI so the only who has N wireless is XBOX then some of you are not giving the right choice.
XBOX360 is much better option for online players and the XBOX LIVE has not opponent not matter that is free psn!

I seriously sat and thought about this deal, as it looks like a good one. Assuming you get to choose the two games, I really can't think of anything I want that I can't get on my PS3 or PC. When I think of these games I think of Forza, Halo 3, Fable 2, GoW 2... all good games but not enough to make me run out and grab a 360.

Of course you have to pay extra for a hard drive, and the games you get off live (paying full price for) will only be available if you keep your membership up. With the PS3 you get a hard drive, free online where you actually own the games without a subscription fee per year, Blu-ray player, along with HDMI and bluetooth compatible everything....no 80's wired mics on the PS3!!

The games are still available without a gold membership. A silver membership is free--it just means you can browse and buy content but can't play online.

I just bought one. I can finally upgrade my older 360 (which is still running after 5 years) to one with an HDMI cable. Thankfully since I can get the arcade one I don't need to pay for a new hard drive, and after all of the extras, the console itself will have cost me very little. Sweet deal.

Don't worry this was tried in NA, the Xbox 360 did not get a massive boost, it just upped it for a few weeks, mean while PS3 still outsold it on an world wide basis, this deal is still a rip off compared for what you get in the 120gb PS3, I got mine for 210 from asda, had to buy a game with it tho to get the deal, which meant £250 worth of goods

not bad, if i had the extra money, id get it, BUT then again, all the games on 360 that i couldnt play on ps3 i already had ample amount of time to do so thanks to family and friends. Id just be getting it for whats to come

Now if this deal was out around the time of Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction being out, id have to dip into my account.
