Legends of Persia, a indie RPG that’s been creating quite a buzz within circles, has finally got a release date window. The action adventure, Diablo-esque, title from Sourena Game Studio will launch in January 2014.
Legends of Persia will includes all the traditional features of the genre such as item usage, character building/progression along with a storyline. The plot focuses Keykhorso, son of Persian prince Sivavosh, who in the name of his father’s blood seeks to take revenge upon Afrasiab, the king of Tooran…who just happened to kill Keykhoro’s father.
Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
It has been a good year for fans of the Hack and Slash genre with releases, or even in progress releases (Early Access) such as Sacred 3, Diablo 3's console expansion, Heretic Shadow Kingdoms, Grim Dawn, and more. That being said, releasing one of these games this year comes with the tag of "what do you offer that they don't?". While Legends of Persia doesn't do anything spectacular gameplay wise to set itself apart from the rest in this category, it has one of the best cinematic styles I have seen in a while.
Avoiderdragon:Back in 2012, during the height of the Kickstarter craze, there were quite a few projects that looked like they could be biting off more than they could chew. We’ve seen some of their results, and it has made a lot of gamers more cynical about crowdfunded projects on either Kickstarter or Indiegogo. There are exceptions of course, but a lot of them got done but didn’t impress as much as they should. Here seems to be one of them, one among many in a genre that has been having a resurgence as of late.
Legends of Persia was successfully kickstarted in May of 2014 and Greenlit on Steam a month before that. While the meager $3,000 funding goal was geared towards localizing the game for other languages, it could have used more time and resources towards beta testing.
Aww I thought this was related to Prince of Persia :(
It might be cool to see some interesting mods for the game, but other than that, I'm going to have to pass.
I think I will stick with Path of Exile after watching the gameplay.
