yes please

tacked on MP was bloating budgets and killing the industry

(funny thing about the article picture last 2 batman games had MP, would rather they saved the money and gave us a better SP game)

Chris5583683d ago

last 2? arkham city and asylum didn't have MP and knight will not have aswell only origins had and that is one game not two

SniperControl3683d ago

Kinda good, I lost all interest in MP with MW3. While a good game, Titanfall still left me wanting more.

I think Destiny will be a game changer with it's SP and MP morphed into one game play experience.

theXtReMe13683d ago

Thank God. As somebody who doesn't play hardly any multiplayer, it's a relief knowing that developers aren't pushing multiplayer on everybody. I think some games should be single player only and others should have multiplayer. Obviously COD is a great example of one that can do both, depending on the developer who is making that call of duty that year. Some better than others. Other games feel like multiplayer is pushed on the players, tacked on, for the specific purpose of adding life to a very short single player. Some games feel like single player is tacked onto multiplayer, Battlefield falls into that category.

Either way, I'm glad some developers still see how important single player is to the gaming experience, in a world that seems dominated by multiplayer gamers. Hopefully this trend keeps up for a very long time. There is nothing more satisfying than finishing a lengthy single player game, with a great story.

PS4 and Xbox One Combined Sales in the U.S. Will Be 23.5 Million by November According to EEDAR

At GDC 2016, EEDAR’s Founder Geoffrey Zatkin presented a panel titled “Awesome Video Game Data,” including quite a lot of interesting information and statistics on the market.

PhoenixUp2935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

VGC currently has PS4 at 13.58 million and XO at 11.80 million sold in the U.S., which adds to an estimated total at 25.38 million units combined as of the end of March.

Also EEDAR said these estimations were for North America as a whole, not just for the U.S. as the headline suggests. In that regard VGC has PS4 at 14.82 million and XO at 12.85 million sold in North America, which adds to 27.67 million combined as of the end of March.

Even though VGC may not always be exact, it's safe to say that EEDAR's predictions have already been met. They should've guessed higher for the total amount sold by November.

Abriael2935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

I'd say EEDAR is just a little more credible than VGChartz, especially considering that they have access to actual NPD data, which VGChartz does not.

IMHO, there's absolutely nothing that's safe to assume using vgchartz as a base.

GribbleGrunger2935d ago

VGC adjust their figures when NPD hits so it's unlikely they've overtracked.

TFJWM2934d ago

@GribbleGrunger Umm no they don't they update when they get official announcements from MS and Sony. Since their MS numbers always were adjusted to MS' shipped #s how are they using NPD...

PhoenixUp2935d ago

As I said earlier VGC may not be entirely exact, but it'd be ridiculous to think that PS4 and XO have sold far below 23.5 million combined in the U.S., let alone North America like the actual article says, by the end of March 2016.

this is as November 2015 LOL what a crap article, we had NPD numbers ages ago showing this LOOL

Abriael2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

This is a prediction for November 2016. Might want to actually read before spamming "LOLs" :D

The prediction is for the end of the fourth quarter of year 3 of both consoles, which is November 2016. They launched in November 2013.

It even says it clearly on the graph. "Y3 Q4 (projected)."

FasterThanFTL12934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

Oh dear, this does not look good for the future of consoles in the US. 3 years and the combined sales are only 23.5 million. That's 11.2 million a year. No wonder we are hearing rumors of Xbox Next and PS4K already.

Germany72934d ago

These numbers are better than the last generation.
Try harder next time.

FasterThanFTL12934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

*Correction*
23.5/3 = 7.83 Million a year.

If that's true then it's better than I thought, there might be hope for Xbox One after all

Ausbo2934d ago

I don't understand why people like you think the Xbox is failing or doing horrible. It's doing great. It's just the ps4 is selling so insanely good. The ps4 may even eventually sell more than the ps2.

nowitzki20042934d ago

PS4 is selling amazing, I cant see it passing PS2 though.

uptownsoul2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

@Ausbo - "I don't understand why people like you think the Xbox is failing or doing horrible."

While I never thought the Xbox One was "failing or doing horrible", I will note that when a company goes from releasing the specifics of their sales numbers, to no longer releasing sales numbers...2 things happen. 1) We no longer know what the sales are of that product (which leads to people estimating and/or guessing)...And 2) It gives the impression that the company itself is not as proud of their sales as they were before.

That being said, yes, Xbox One is still ahead of the 360 at the same time in the generation so its still doing good. Just not as good as its direct competition

2934d ago
Why o why2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

'people think sales are everything...lol'

Still wet behind the ears to n4g lore huh

Let me give you a snippet. . Some people on here used to profess only north America mattered. . . Like npd was the everything. . . . . Now that's some funny $#!+

I'll only listen to Ms themselves when they finally fess up

WelkinCole2934d ago

It was initially selling as fast as the PS3 at the start which was faster than the x360.

Then it slowed down and it was selling at the same rate as the x360.

It slowed down further and this is when MS started to stop reporting numbers.

It's not just the PS4 doing way better. Fact is many x360 gamers switched to the PS4. We see this with the two regions (US,UK) that MS usually rely on favoring the PS4. Now PS4 is consistently outselling the x1 every month in these critical regions for MS and I doubt this will change any time soon.

X1 was released in Nov 10 2013. In 25 months and 3 holiday seasons it only managed to do 20 million with ever slowing rate.

Weather you like it or not the x1 is not doing nearly as good as MS hoped for. I am pretty sure they were hoping to at least do better than they did with the x360. Instead they are losing further in the region they were competitive in (US,UK) and getting slaughtered in every other regions.

Walker2935d ago

Are these numbers legit ? too much for xbone !

DragonDDark2935d ago

It's not too much... The XB1 would reach the number at some point.. it's not like the number isn't moving.

The PS4 though is at the 40s million by now.

S2Killinit2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

What caught my eye was that they said the male/female ratio of gamers is 55% to 45%. I find that really hard to believe. Are you telling me that there are almost as many female gamers as there are male gamers??? That is hard to swallow. Thats surely not the case when you walk into a gamestop. Unless if female gamers get their games elsewhere.

kaiserfranz2935d ago

Well yeah, EEDAR is the largest gaming research firm so they are legit. They're not official by Microsoft if that's what you're asking, but then again MS has decided not to share unit sales anymore, so this is as close as we're going to get now I guess.

nix2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

"Estimates". Sounds like another VGChartz to me.

I would give MS that number though because they can't be doing so bad. Who knows in reality they could be still around 15 millions.

One can only speculate unless MS gives us real numbers. But all we're getting is - how many ppl logged in.

t-hall7852934d ago

Who cares. It's supported with games. It works well. And we are guaranteed a future console (from both sides). Playstation and Xbox fans should be happy for the success of the X1. All these people (secretly) wishing for Microsoft to go away should really be careful of what they wish for...

badz1492934d ago

"And we are guaranteed a future console (from both sides)."

eh...from Sony, maybe but MS? looking at what they are doing at the moment, the Xbox is not looking like a sure thing just yet.

t-hall7852934d ago

There will be another xbox. Its been already cemented in stone. Whether you want to accept it or not is up to you.

Kingthrash3602934d ago

Cemented in stone, how?
I'd love to see a new xbox. But lately ms has been more focused on than xbox...taking exclusives from xbox to support pc.
Who is it that said xbox is cemented in stone?
Honestly MS would make more money (or lose less money) if the went the pc route. Like take halo gears forza and make them pc titles on windows and make money without having to spend on designing and manufacturing hardware. Remember, MS is a software company they have done nothing but lose money on hardware...og xbox lost money...xbox 360 lost money (rrod itself costed this what 10 million or more in fixing defected xboxes alone. Lost money on the kinect) and the xbox one (while out paceing the 360 currently) is losing money on every kinectless xbox one. I remember them stating that they spent 10 million on designing the kinect alone. A lot of things factor on the next console. There is a real chance that this is ms last hardware xbox. Xbox may just become a service on pc.
Nothing is set in stone when it comes to ms.

t-hall7852934d ago

Phil Spencer said it. Look it up. They make money off publishishing software that they lose selling the console. Thats if they lose money or break even doing that. Why would they give up all of that marketshare to sell games exclusively on pc? Makes no sense to me. And I'm sure it makes no sense to microsoft.

Decent figures. It's just so far behind the PS4.
The real news is the Steam release info. So much shovelware.

kaiserfranz2935d ago

Agreed, there's just so much stuff on Steam it's hard to find the good one anymore...

tanukisuit2934d ago

Not sure if you know Jim Sterling, but that's what he's been going on about for the last few days. He mainly discusses out Greenlight, while can be great, has just been littered with junk "games".

Majin-vegeta2935d ago

"ESTIMATES" is the keyword here people ;).

DLConspiracy2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

I'll take these over most the people in the comments predictions any day. Right or Wrong. The predictions in the comments are often biased.

Concertoine2934d ago

People have been trying to convince me for months now that the xbone is still at 18 million.

Sure this is an estimate, but its an estimate from 4 months ago, so safe to say it is at least well past this number in those 4 months.

DLConspiracy2934d ago

@conertoine

Ive heard 13 or 15 still. Probably a few wishful failings.

As a whole though these stats are interesting. Especially for PC. Dualshockers posted quite a few more than the ones they show in this article. Much better stats for all platforms. Same group.
