It’s been some time (25 years, in fact) since Nintendo made a showing at Toy Fair, the world’s largest toy exhibition show, as an exhibitor. They jumped back in this year, sparking a lot of idle talk about what it was they might have been showcasing that would prompt the change of heart. I don’t normally dip into rumours and hearsay, but this got a lot of things going in my brain, and even though it doesn’t appear as if the gaming behemoth made any spectacular ripples at their booth, the gears turning in my skull simply refuse to stop. With all that in mind, I think the time is right, and the market ripe, for Nintendo to jump into the NFC-enabled toy-supported game pool.
Game developers have already started to confirm that they will support the Nintendo Switch 2 with their future titles.

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.
Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

Skylanders was a kids fad and dinsey got theirs out at the right time when thus comes out evetone would have moved on!
Toys and dlc are evil anyway its like ea and capcom had a meeting on how to market dlc to children and make it look half decent to the parents buying it hence the toy part!
Just my opinion please reply and tell me why buying a game for £40 and then buying each character for £7 is good for us gamers?
Excellent article...
But I think it would make more sense to make a full on new Pokémon game using this type of design.
Imagine a new Pokémon game for WiiU done in the same manner as the portable versions. For example they can have Pokémon WiiU Alpha and Beta! Two separate games and each one comes with three starter Pokemon action figures. Of course the three would be different depending on which version of the game you played.
Now instead of finding the pokemon in game now you have to find them in stores, limited editions, store exclusives, mail in orders, timed exclusives, etc, etc. As an added incentive make the Pokémon cards compatible with the WiiU game giving special power ups or traits when battling.
Later on Nintendo can start releasing older Pokémon figures from past games to the roster. There are so many that Nintendo can keep this going for a while and be very successful.
The game of course needs to have a great online network component so people could battle each other around the world.
What this author suggested is cool, but in my opinion this tech should be reserved for Pokémon.
I really hope they announce some sort of partnership with Legos at this thing.
I have zero interest in Skylanders, but Nintendo could make decent Pokemon profit off of the idea.
