PlayDevil: Pokemon X - Y Review

PlayDevil has reviewed Pokemon X & Y

Here's a snippet:

"The battles themselves are very impressive too, with attacks no longer being stock effects that drift from one side of the screen to the other, but fully animated affairs with Pokemon winding up for attacks, reeling from blows, and calling lightning from the skies above. It's a great improvement on what has come before and really makes the most of the games new third dimension."

Man I lost track at 150.
Im an OG pokemon fan, I was all into that jazz, but since they keep adding and adding and adding more and more characters, it seems like they are just milking the hell out of the franchise.

That's not to say they didn't originally set out to do that.

Shit I was milked all the way through my adolescent years.

Mom! please please just 1 pack of Pokémon cards. 5 bucks a pop.

once got 2 charizards the same day. back when they were worth 120 bucks a piece

I went into card shop with my mom, we got a pack of cards. I went nuts I had got a CHARIZARD yay!, the lady who ran the card shop was like, Ill give you 10 packs of pokemon cards, if you give me your charizard. Me and my mom looked at each other she gave the nod of approval. So got my 10 packs. I opened them 1 by one, getting a few holographics here and there, and nearing the end of the packs, to my surprise.

BAM another Charizard Holographic.

That was a GOOD day.

I loved B/R & Yellow (still have it), G/S & Crystal were especially cool & then I spent a large amount of time playing Sapphire.

I got into Platinum & enjoyed the darker atmosphere, currently playing Heart Gold.
But something changed, I hated every single Pokemon design in B/W & don't find much point in the X/Y designs.

It's like they ran out of species, overused inanimate objects & ended up having to re-use species just with a different design.
I also don't like the in game camera, but maybe Z will be better or hopefully we'll get a remake of R/S/E at some point.

Making Pokémon 3D Was A Mistake

Pokémon’s shift to 3D was a big mistake, as the series’ roots in 2D design make it difficult to transfer important game mechanics into a 3D overworld.

why do other games pull off 3D monster collecting JRPG games just fine? Look at Jade Cocoon and Shin Megami Tensei for examples.

Answer should be obvious.

No other videogame franchise is as merchandise driven as Pokémon

Nintendo 3DS Games We Still Love Playing Even Today

BLG writes: "While it didn’t sell as well as the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS was nonetheless a wonderful system. And, while this may be a hot take, it’s easily my favorite handheld. Even more than a decade removed from launch, the system’s library has so many titles that feel as fresh today as they did back at release. While it was hard to narrow down, these 30 Nintendo 3DS games are emblematic of the system’s success."

When Will The Pokemon Company Introduce a New Typing?

The Pokemon Company has a solid thing going right now. Well, it’s been going on for a while, actually, but it has been a while since a new typing has been introduced to the popular monster-taming series. The latest one, Fairy type, was introduced back in Generation VI (Pokemon X & Y), so it does seem like it is time to bring in a new one. Check out Jason Capp's article for more.
