GTA 5 voice actors include real gang members

Grand Theft Auto 5's gangs are voiced by real gang members, producer Lazlow Jones has revealed – including one who was released from prison the day before recording.

"When we record all these ambient characters that are in the world we go towards authenticity," Lazlow told US radio station WGN. "So in the game, part of the element of the story is that there's rival gangs.

Lol, they just keepin it real. Lets hope they don't piss off one of them in a recording session though, because that would be so ironic.

Imagine the news headline "Mike, Trevor, and Franklin stormed Rockstar Studios and holding few hostages"

CarlosX3603887d ago

Of course, if they want to be authentic. :)

zyphee3887d ago

NOW THAT IS AUTHENTICITY, once again good job Rockstar.

donjunedolo3887d ago

I'm all for authenticity, but to have gang members on the payroll is absurd!

CalamityCB3887d ago

Bring in real gang members off the streets to do voice acting, which is also a JOB and may inspire them to do more with their life.
Or.. have them lingering on the streets and possibly return to their life of crime.

Exactly.

Rockstar just showed these guys another way to get money.

It may save one of them from doing something horrible in the future.

Angels37853887d ago

Or...they just funded organized crime...its kind of a grey area but it really does add authenticity as lazlo described when they would edit the writers lines.

I call B.S on that one . it's a PR stunt , that's all .

Rockstar is pretty clear even on the reasons for those hire . it's for the sake of an authentic feeling .

it's unlikely to have much impact , be it negative or positive on those guys' life . Nor will it have any on my purchase and fun with the game

GarrusVakarian3887d ago

Ah R*, your dedication for authenticity doesn't not go unappreciated.

PhantomT14123887d ago (Edited 3887d ago )

If I recall they did the same with Max Payne 3, recording pedestrians from Brazil to do the voice overs.

NYC_Gamer3887d ago

Wow,GTA V with real legit gang bangers doing voice overs.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing693d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius2d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius2d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
