Rare: we've got ideas for Kinect in Perfect Dark, Banjo, Viva Pinata

OXM:Rare has plenty of ideas about how to get its classic game brands on Xbox One, the studio's Simon Woodroffe told us at Gamescom, and it's likely that the studio will start work on multiple new titles once it releases Kinect Sports Rivals early next year.

Since KI is now back, i hope they bring back Jet Force Gemini and Perfect Dark. Also Conker would be great.

2cents3915d ago

Oh my god,

Jet force Gemini! I totally forgot about that game, it was Kewl!

Let's hope Rare are allowed to be themselves a little more this gen instead of being Microsoft games studios in every sense but name.

Conker Conker Conker!!!

Fyflin3915d ago

Don't forget Blast Corps! That could have some incredible online modes!

walkincarpet3915d ago

yup Blast Corps would rock as would all the games that everyone tends to bring up. Actually Rare is sitting on a treasure trove of IPs so it's disappointing to see them designated for Kinect based games that ignore their rich heritage. I would love to see a star fox type of game... they could put conker behind the wheel since Nintendo owns the fox.

"i hope they bring back Jet Force Gemini"

YES!

True_Samurai3915d ago

Ever go in GameStop and ask for that game? Funny as hell

CalamityCB3915d ago

Heck I'd be fine with Rare making a game with their past franchises, as long as they don't make it a full Kinect game and focus more on the controller side (but still having the Kinect involved) I'd be completely fine.

Here's how Rare should operate when making games:
They should make a full kinect game then after finishing that they should make a normal classic Rare game, then after that they should make a Kinect game.... and so on and forth.
That way they are getting the perfect balance of games and are appealing to all fans.

Phil Harrison said in one of his interviews at Gamscom that remakes of classic IPs are in the work and Rare has multiple teams and been hiring like crazy since lat summer. This is great news if a new Banjo is in the work.

Can you provided an link please to the interview?
If so that would be great.

The hits just keep on coming. Will not be surprised if this gets canned. It already got rebooted and they had to bring on an outside studio to try and help developement. Some of the original creatives have left the project.

But I will say, just wait until the MS showcase. If you don't see it there, then alarm bells should start ringing.

Snookies123d ago

God, please don't screw this one up Microsoft! I am keeping my expectations super low, but Perfect Dark (the original) holds such a special place in my childhood. I want this to turn out well SO bad.

helicoptergirl3d ago

Are you expecting the game to be shown at the upcoming Xbox Showcase?

neutralgamer19923d ago

Just cancel it because we know you won’t be happy with its sales performance while giving it away on GP day one. GP is the biggest issue for developers and that affects the sales. No one can deny that now. GP equals to good deal for gamers and bad deals for AAA development. Take two CEO said it and he was 100% right. There are certain games that make sense on GP but not every game. 20 million gamers playing a game on GP doesn’t mean much to MS it seems because they still want sales. Just please start releasing all games on other platforms otherwise Phil is next now. You can’t spend 80 billion and be this bad

Inverno3d ago

The studio was founded in 2018. It's still not adding up in my head how it can take 6 years to develop a game, with a whole dev studio working on it.

jjb19812d ago

This is the only upcoming MS game I'm looking forward to. I hope it doesn't get canceled.

Xbox Showcase 2024: 7 Things We Want

Kevin writes: "The upcoming Xbox Showcase 2024 is going to be important for the future of Xbox consoles and Game Pass, and here's 7 things we want to see."

Perfect Dark would be cool but I’m hoping for Fable. I’m really interested where they’ve taken the game.

Tacoboto9d ago

Looking ahead now, I'd say Avowed is what I'm looking forward to most in the fall. Obsidian's been nothing but quality and consistency so I can't wait to see what they've been cooking
