Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn just entered its full open beta this early morning, and it’s already breaking records, as explained this morning by Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida.

Hmmm sounds like they learned from their mistakes and are on the right path again.

It's going to take another 4-5 years to fully correct all the bad choices Square Enix has made, but I see they've finally got the ship headed in the right direction.

It's hard to head North when your ship is facing south.

I have downloaded the installer and everytime i put my account into the installer it tells me i need a registration code for it to work.

I have made my square enix account and no email with any code was given to me. If this is an open beta how are folks getting into the game so easily when there is no official page that tells you what to do? and if so can someone guide me in the right direction. I have been waiting for this and there is no help anywhere from what I read.

SE sends you a code via email when you register the game. I went through the whole process with no issue, seemed pretty straight forward.

Anyone else having this problem?

Playing the Beta and I took 3 different kill a certain number of Monsters for the guild master and two other NPC's. Once I finished I went to claim the rewards but I claimed the guild master one but I can't collect on the other 2.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I would have loved this game if not for the subscription. I can't pay for plus, my internet connection, sixty bucks for a game, and then continue to rent my own game from these people. I don't see how spending sixty dollars isn't good enough. That's their prerogative though.

People are bound to freak out at me, and that's fine. That's to be expected when talking about something as serious as a video game. /s

The game really is great. It is a beacon of hope for the franchise imo.

Squeenix apparently can still make good(sic) FF games.

The game is only 39.99 not 60.00, plus you get a free month so give it a try. Most games of 60.00 at most get played for 3 months then you get bored of them. So after 3 month you would have payed 60.00 round about, then stop your service if ya want.

It's not cheap to maintain servers and add extra content and updates in an mmo. Its 40 cents a day to play an awesome game and support the devs in order to keep them in a job and provide us with their services, works for me

Guild Wars 2 proved all of that could be done, and at a quality level, without a subscription.

I totally understand the value people see in paying subscriptions, and I hope that I didn't come across differently.

I get it man. When you break it down it's pennies.

I'm console though. Those mathematics, while clearly appropriate for certain games, *do not work for me.

I don't like having to buy a game then continue to pay for it.

But I completely understand why YOU do approve of it. And that is fine.

I couldn't imagine the things developers working on mmo's have to contend with. Not just the technical prowess it must require, but also having to battle people out there that just want to watch the world burn.
People that try to ruin the experience for people.

I don't think there is anything wrong with people paying subscriptions. I just don't think it's right for me, personally.

You're paying for quality is what you're doing. There are free-to-play MMO's out there, and some that are good (only one I know of is GW2), but the endgame content and lack of any meaningful updates is what kills it, that and the absolute abuse of micro-transactions, pay-to-win game style.

They're trying to run GW2 on micro-transactions and hope that gamers will spend real money on items. The initial buy-in isn't nearly enough to keep an MMO going.

So FFXIV being P2P is much, much better for it. I'd rather pay $12 a month knowing I'll be getting decent updates every month/week/day, and new content additions (Expansions) every 3-6 months (as Yoshi-P said was the plan), plus seasonal events, instead of buying it for $60 (GW2) and being unsure of how much you'll be getting since they won't have the funds as frequently to make new content.

Games like GW2 might sound better if you don't want to spend "extra" money on games, and that's perfectly fine. But if you expect to play MMO's for a long period of time, you'll benefit more from a sub.

The idea of having to spend money sucks, but it's worth it.

I think they'll give you a code either via e-mail or in the shop if you ordered it personally.

i had to call the customer service, they gave me a replacement code, i think i threw it away on accident when i cleaned out my wallet.
