Wrath: Aeon of Ruin has come about via some old classical inspiration. If you liked Quake, DOOM, Hexen or the like, then you're going to love this as it blasts onto Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
Would have preferred something along the lines as Underground2 but... Ah well...
EA needs to look into the past, much like SONY did, and look what's wrong, we all love racing and adrenaline games (hence the cops vs robbers feature success) but we need something to keeps us pushing.
Despite the sexualism of having a hot chick into a racing game, I think it would add to the game but only if they also added a decent STORY, all the racing types and tracks are cool but after you repeat them you need something to inject more adrenaline and risk based missions, and a story is the perfect solution.
Need for Speed original Most Wanted had success because of this, despite not being one of the most incredible story, it feed on the hatred for the #1 blacklist for stealing your car (if I remember correctly) and that driven the player to keep pushing and feeling rewarded the more he pushed.
Story has to be included to the franchises formula or else, after 3 hours of gaming every race type and you will feel saturated.
Can I have another Hot Pursuit... that doesn't feel so much like a Burnout game?
I bet this still won't have split-screen, DAMN YOU EA! Codemasters now includes it in their games.
The easiest way to sum up NFS: Rivals (from what I've seen and read) is Hot Pursuit 2010 + Most Wanted 2013, with bits of Burnout and Most Wanted 2005 thrown in for good measure. Yes, in many ways deja vu is a strong feeling, but NFS:R looks to incorporate the best bits of said games - customisation, open world, the ability to impulsively race other racers while cruising the roads, police chases etc.
I do wish Ghost/Criterion would've come up with something a little more imaginative, but I have a feeling this will be a fitting title for NFS fans that'll feel as different and it will familiar.
