Dragon Age: Inquisition Coming Fall 2014

EA announces the release date of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I'm glad it's coming in 2014 too. Witcher 3 is going to keep me busy in the early part of the year, Dragon Age 3 will keep me busy after :P

2014 is a bit late for a current gen release but the first two were also on PC so I really wouldn't count that one out.

So what can we get out of this "teaser?"

First - The classic old topp down view will not be coming back im afraid.

Im afraid that it will go dragon age 2 way in terms of camera and i am rly sad about that.

But hey, maybe they make it but right now im afraid its like 80% chanse to be the same failure as DA2 was.. but hey... i am a HUGE DA fan so i rly hope they make this one awesome :).

Any news about ps4 version?

RPGs generally give the appearance of being open world. Remember the early days of Final Fantasy when you first get out on the world map?

I have no issues at all with open world, why do you want your hand held?

I actually would like a true open world game, you are given an overall main quest with various characters that might be your friends and might help you, betray you, etc. You may meet all the characters, or some of your actions will cause you not to.

Random people have random quests, some minor..some might have a deep plot and take hours do do.

The main quest could be done in many, many different ways, and you could even fail it and cause the story to change...for example. The world could slowly start to be destroyed...but the game would still be playable until that happened.

Or whatever evil(or good) that you were against would assume full control of the game world and you could try to slowly change that.

Sounds a bit like the old school Elder Scroll games...anyway.

The point is why stick with, "Go to this town next, then here, then there, and this cave here for a special boss, then to that town to relax and lighten the tone before the evil whatever forces an end battle."

Aren't you just a bit tired of that no matter how great it looks or how well done the characters are?

Well, first of all i think that i wont compare the old Final Fantasy Games with the modern version of "open world" games. Yes, the world somehow opens up after the beginning, but overall it was very storydriven and straight forwards, with great optional content.
But this feeling of a storydriven game is what im missing nowadays. Like Skyrim, where i feel the Story was just like Singleplayer in CoD. I feel its designed to go around, do this, see that etc. This is somehow i think what you like in RPG's but it seems we have different opionions here. Like i said, i want a storydriven Game with emotions and plottwists and Characters with story. And in my opionion this goes hand in hand with "i take your hand and guide you".
Maybe im wrong and this is just me feeling :D
But i also hope that games like The Witcher 3 proves me wrong with great story in open world. :)

You did a great job in explaining your point. Can't argue with that. I think I'll simply say there's plenty of room for both styles(and more) of RPGs. I have and do enjoy both, so I can't really disagree with you.

Was kind of hoping for next-gen only. That means they are going to have to scale things back to accommodate the 360/PS3.
