RPGFan: "It's always good to see Japanese games unexpectedly make it to the US. In the case of Black Rock Shooter, the localization is just fine — it's the original game that's weak. After you beat it, you can go back and play extra missions with new goals, but with boring combat and a weak story, you have no real incentive to do so. Unless you really loved the anime upon which this game is based, I'd save your money for something else. BRS is not actually broken, but there's nothing about it that will make you glad you put even 10 hours into it."

It really is a great game, I was addicted to it for quite awhile, haha. if you haven't played it yet then I highly recommend you check it out :)
Black Rock Shooter is a Japanese franchise based on characters created by Ryohei Huke. Gave rise to a quite popular music and later to an OVA, an anime, manga and now a game. The story follows a girl with black hair and blue eyes blazing. Is set in the year 2032, where humanity is in danger of ceasing to exist, suffering defeat behind to defeat in battle with some alien invaders, eventually humanity be reduced to twelve human. In a last attempt these humans try to agree a humanoid weapon, called Black Rock Shooter, this being that girl with black hair and the only hope of humanity.
The story is pretty stupid so far(I'm about 5 hours in) but the game play is awesome. Really different and interesting combat system.
And I'll say this game has pretty much no relationship to either the anime OVA or TV series. Basically a totally new story and world with BRS in it. So don't expect it to be anything like the show or OVA if you have seen them.
