"So it was Kaz who succeeded Kutaragi-san in 2006, who decided the process had to change. And he trusted the hardware team here to start involving the software team of Worldwide Studios."

"So we were talking following Kaz’s instructions that Worldwide Studios should be involved [in PS4], and I kind of suggested ‘What about Mark?’"

All bow to the great almighty Kaz and @yosp(Shuhei Yoshida), cause they shall bring forth the goldenage. No but seriously best decision was made right there to involve the developers and Mark Cerny.

A console made with so much input and guidance from developers just has me really damn excited.

I will go for PS4 for being game focused machine.

And even if rumours are true, Respawn game is gonna come to PS4 after 6 months or a year.

Which is pretty much what happened to all popular 3rd party exclusive on 360.

PS4: The Developers' Console

Mark Cerny is a high level genius that can translate his complex technical creativity to simplicity among common men.

Having stayed and worked in Japan, he is the only American game designer that has a good grasp of what works in Japan and the West. He made Crash Bandicoot as big as a hit in Japan like Mario and Sonic during the PSOne era.

ZodTheRipper4012d ago (Edited 4012d ago )

Not to question anyone here but I remember reading that Mark Cerny made that effort by himself

Quote: "Realizing how passionate he was about the PlayStation 4 project, after Thanksgiving, Cerny went to Sony's then-execs Phil Harrison and Masa Chatani, "and asked if I could lead the next generation effort. And to my great surprise, they said yes."

Nonetheless I think that he was the right choice for this task. His approach of developing the console by visiting game developers and asking for feedback is simple but brilliant. They are the people that need to be asked what a console needs and that really paid off. Developers all around the world have nothing but praise for the PS4's architecture.

but I still miss Kutaragi-san. Dude was brass and the real "father" of the PS; however Kaz has steered the ship swimmingly since his departure. I guess I wouldn't miss him as much and his talents if Cellius was actually real.... and Kevin Butler was still in the office.

Confirmed!

"The light-bar doesn’t require the camera to function. It’s just a different way of identifying the player."

It's a good team they got right now, Kaz running Sony and Mark leading PS4 development.

The changes are for the better and I believe everyone realizes that.
It's good that the February 20th event focused on games and gamers because that should be the driving force of any console.

GalacticEmpire4012d ago (Edited 4012d ago )

Ever since Kaz took over, Sony and in particular the Playstation brand have been on an upward trend

Can't wait to see PlayStation 4 !

Genuine-User4012d ago

Might have to wait around 8 years for that pal.

For all the people disagreeing, walker initially mentioned the Playstation 5 before changing it to 4.
