Asus Rolls Out ROG Xonar Phoebus Solo 7.1 Gaming Sound Card

Maximum PC: The death of discrete sound cards may have been greatly exaggerated. Yes, it's true, today's onboard sound is far more capable than it was some 10 years ago, and with multi-core processors now the norm, there's really no need to invest in a discrete card for improved frame rates when gaming. This is the future I am interested in - VR is neat, but hate needing goggles.

Apples and oranges there. VR and 3D are only marginally related. VR is about complete immersion.
