GTA V: 10 Moments From Far Cry 3 Rockstar Won’t Beat

WC: You’d be forgiven for thinking that these two games were poles apart. You’d be forgiven because they absolutely are – at first glance, anyway. Their settings, play styles and storylines are all vastly differ, but look a little closer and their Venn diagrams begin to overlap more and more.

As you are no doubt aware, for example, some recent Grand Theft Auto V screens showcased a new diving ability, complete with an enormous shark. Far Cry 3 had sharks. Both games are also famed for their large, hyper-real sandboxes and penchant for allowing the player to leave behind a trail of corpses so long that you could see it on Google Earth.

But perhaps most importantly, both games come from two of the largest and most respected stables in gaming today, namely Ubisoft and Rockstar. I think it’s fair to say the chances of Rockstar knocking it out of the park with GTA V are pretty big, but try as they might, here are 10 things that they won’t be able to top from Ubisoft’s best-gap-year-ever simulator. Beware: this article contains spoilers!

Falling in this game is stupid. I mean you can almost die from a small fall. The diving is good but falling in general is terribly done. Too many times have I died just by jumping while running

Why compare GTA V with Far Cry 3? There is a world of difference between the two. I mean... What is the purpose? Hits?

The way the article is written just makes it sound like this guy is a huge farcry fanboy. I liked it but I have always liked GTA better. This guy makes it sound like farcry will get you laid or something(ok im exagerating, but you get it)

Vaas was definitly not the greatest villian of all time. IMO any villian in the MGS universe is way beyond any farcry villian in terms of depth of character. Vaas seems very cliche'd you know.

And jason brody being a believable jerk? really. I know they had to make some story to put you in the world but calling it believable is a stretch in my book. Any old city boy can be the savior of an island of aparent slaves that dont know how to use the guns they are constantly walking around with as long as you have magic skill tatoos. OK ill buy that.

Burning a weed field was done in GTA SA a long time ago, that's nothing new.

Everything else is just specific to this game, your not going to get the same types of visuals in a TPS as a FPS(ie the falling, swimming, diving references in the article) So i dont even consider those comparable references. And the falling in San andreas was pretty cool to, just wish the draw distance of what was on the ground was better.

Comparison fail me thinks.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
