Pixel Related's 2012 GOTY Awards: Best Game No One Played

It might be heartbreaking when a game is bad or disappointing, but it can break your heart even more if no one plays it. If there’s a game you truly believe in, you want everyone to play it.

Xenoblade was amazing! Quite possibly the definitive JRPG of this generation.

I really enjoyed Asuras Wrath but kinda disappointed the true ending is DLC...

RogueStatus284115d ago

Some people are saying Ni No Kuni will be the best JRPG they've played in the while... It's like, didn't Xenoblade and Last Story come out last year?

profgerbik4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

Sorry No Ni Kuni is hands down something completely new that has never been done before and looks beautiful enchanting you ever step of the way.

Not saying Xenoblade isn't good, I was shocked at how good it was for being on the Wii not trying to be a dick but it looked better than I expected is what I mean.

Still No Ni Kuni is absolutely amazing.

zerocrossing4115d ago

I will have to get that one day but my PS3 is dead and if I remember correctly that's a PS3 exclusive... Gotta agree though Ni No Kuni looks like something very special.

icecoldfire4115d ago

Yeah Sleeping Dogs and Torchlight 2 were seriously snubbed at these awards. Wish Asura's Wrath had none of that DLC crap to get the proper ending. Well, thats Scamcom for ya.

profgerbik4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was ok, it has been done before. There was a Matrix: Path of Neo on PC which was pretty awesome for it's time and very similar. There was some other game almost exactly like it also where you played a character just like Sleeping Dogs and practically did all the same stuff.

It's been ages since I played those two games but I think one was on Xbox and Path of Neo was on PC. Sorry I can't remember the name of that one, I just think awards should be handed out to games that are really being creative.

Sleeping Dogs is the best game of that kind but it's still far from fresh ideas and new creativity is all I am saying.

Same with Torchlight.. Tons of games exactly like it.

Hope no offense taken.

icecoldfire4115d ago

None taken. It's just that creativity and originality is dying and that i am looking at execution. It's excellent if they are original and a plus point but these games are brilliantly executed and that's what I am looking at.
I mean torchlight 2 is such a superior game to Diablo III yet because of the latter, it did not succeed as much as I wanted and as much as it should.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil10d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai10d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing699d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle9d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal9d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa9d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal9d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

watching the video is better then going through 31 pages of gamingbolt.

LG_Fox_Brazil156d ago

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

xeniate151d ago

It's always refreshing to see games embracing the streaming community.

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake195d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake194d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69194d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake194d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69194d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter194d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake194d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds193d ago (Edited 193d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy
