IO Interactive A/S has today revealed the first official screenshots from the soon to be released Hitman: HD Trilogy. Gamers can experience for the first time ever the classic and critically acclaimed games: Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money, unified in one deadly high-definition (HD) collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Retro Remastered's Mike takes a look back at the Hitman HD Trilogy, and discovers that he was wrong about the Hitman franchise.
"Hitman 2 and Contracts are very average games that I struggled through the highs and lows"
Erm, author? just because you struggled through them doesn't mean Hitman 2 or Contracts are very average games, y'know? I know there are problems of inconsistent AI, true, but that isn't enough to make them very average games by any stretch of the imagination. They're still very good games actually. Hitman 2 for example, which is obviously the game that has aged the most, still looks OK to me for a start, and has a number of levels in a number of different countries that have never been seen ever since.
I'm glad IO released this compilation, it feels great to be able to go back to those games for me since I don't have a PS2 anymore, and the original games didn't have widescreen support anyway, or 5.1 DD surround sound (on the PS2 at least), nor did they offer the possibility to save anytime anywhere any number of times you wanted. Oh, and the original PS2 games where I live didn't even offer the english VO, so I had to import them from England (back then people in that country spoke english).
The only real downer of this compilation is that for some reason the controls were changed to using R2 button to fire instead of R1 button in the original games. Why the hell did they do that, go figure.
The Hitman HD Pack is a worthy bundle to look into for anyone interested in the older titles as well as those wanting to relive some finely crafted hits. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin still stands as a strong follow up to the original. Outside of its archaic control scheme and touchy AI, there’s still plenty to enjoy thanks to its generous amount of missions and open-ended gameplay. Hitman: Contracts provides the same strict but rewarding experience, but with many welcomed enhancements to the controls and mission structure. With Agent 47 returning in the new Hitman, this set of games is a great way to sharpen those crucial stealth skills.
GearNuke: "This week, it seems that Sony is offering a plethora of discounts starting with the announced Spring Fever sale. Although, it seems like that there are some hidden sales as well, including the Tomb Raider and Hitman series, and the original God of War Duology on the PSP, that is also playable on the PS Vita."
damn that tomb raider triology look so good, can't decide if i should buy these games or not, there are so many game will be release in march in both PS3, PS4 and PSV, and my backlog it's freaking huge, build from both PS+ game and discount game i have been bought
i don't know if i buy these game now when will i have time to play them
can't decide, damn
ahh now that´s real hitman games.
absolution is practically a splinter cell game for the most part its a good game tough.
Ahh blood money, good memories of planning mysterious deaths and bribing people.
So i'm gathering that, as a true Hitman fan, I won't love absolution? Havent picked it up yet, as I'm still backlogged from all the games that dropped between Sept-Nov.. Had my eye on this one though, really love hitman but it's got mostly lukewarm reviews
my god i wish i didn't already own this and have had played them countless times over.
i pretty much don't rebuy games from the ps2 era, but im really tempted with these because of how open ended they are. such fantastic games. i didn't even buy the god of war or metal gear solid remakes, but these are definitely tempting. if i finish my backlog i might pick them up.
