Assassin's Creed 3 still playing catch-up on the WiiU

Xbigy Games' Kamran Draeger writes:

"At this year's gamescom Ubisoft demoed a new naval mission for Assassin's Creed III on the WiiU and PS3, though what quickly caught our attention was that the two weren't identical."

There's plenty of time for things to get up to speed. They have until at least nov/dec for launch.

Hisiru4277d ago

Comes as no surprise as Ubisoft already said they aren't spending a lot of money on this port, so they aren't using the system's capabilities. However, it's an unfinished game and it will probably be 100% at launch. We can only judge when the game is already out with several reviews explaining every RROs and CONs of this version. If the game is not finished yet, there is nothing to worry or judge yet.

As I said all Wii-U ports should at least be on par with the Xbox 360 versions seeing how the Wii-U is nothing but a beefier 360.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34277d ago

Last time I saw AC3 the Wii U off screen looked better than the direct feed of the Ps3 version.

Crazyglues4277d ago (Edited 4277d ago )

@ CaptainN

While I agree with you this would seem like enough time if that's what they were working on, getting it up to speed. (meaning just getting it running which seems to be what they are doing)

-But if the idea was to exceed the PS3 or 360 version or take advantage of the Wii U features... then no there is no time..

Stuff Like that has to be planned out in the development stage of the game, to try to do it now is just too late, it would take too much resources and time to pull it off now..

So many disagrees for what? I said they have plenty of time, how can people not agree with that? Too many haters on this site now.

@ Crazyglues........the game is not supposed to be better at all. They are supposed to be equal, except for the fact of the Wii-U edition running in 1080P while the others aren't.

MostJadedGamer4276d ago

Its pretty obvious that AC3 is NOT going to come out on the WiiU this year. Its going to be funny watching those people who skip the PS3/360 version thinking they will be playing the WiiU this year.

Just buy the PS3/360 version its not worth waiting to next year just to get the WiiU version.

I think he meant other versions are playing catch up.
>WiiU has 1080p
>WiiU at 60fps
>WiiU has always on active map, and quick select menu
Yup.

Hairy Chewie4277d ago (Edited 4277d ago )

Yeah... you're not a fanboy at all. /s

The WiiU is capable of looking better than PS3/Xbox360, doesn't mean it will within months of release.

SnotyTheRocket4277d ago

yeah, its not 60fps for Assassin's Creed 3....

LOL_WUT4277d ago

But I thought it was going to be the superior version?

@ReadyBodyReggie Facepalm...

rpd1234276d ago

It'll definitely be inferior to the 360 and PS3 versions. Whenever a game is ported, it diminishes in quality. Porting it to the Wii U will not make it the best, because it wasn't created with Wii U tech in mind.

And while the Wii U can play at 60fps and 1080p (supposedly), it won't be able to do it at launch. Consoles never reach full potential at launch.

samtheseed4277d ago

Sorry, Xbiggygames who? Again, this story contains no actual quotes, they just want you to take their word for what they are saying, and AFAIK, they have no credibility... just like the whole 1080p AC3 and Batman crap... horseshit hearsay.

Jadedz4277d ago (Edited 4277d ago )

I don't really care if the Wii U gets "gimped" versions of AAA third party titles. It's the simple fact that we've never really seen this type of support on a Nintendo console for about... 3 generations now?

Nintendo's been out of the multiplatform AAA third party loop for quite some time now (in regards to their hardware consoles) - it's really a breath of fresh air now that titles you normally don't see on Nintendo hardware, is actually launching their platform this time around.

R_aVe_N4277d ago

I think this is mainly due to Nintendo hardware has not really been able to handle these types of games or in the gamecubes case it just didn't sell well. These studios are hoping that the Wii U will have the same sells that the Wii had so they are bringing what they can to it to cash in on that success. You can't blame them at all. I am still not sure how these types of games will sell on the "kid friendly" console all we can do is wait and see.

Jadedz4276d ago

As they showed with the Wii/NDS, they won't just focus on one sector of the consumer demographic.

Hardcore gamers didn't doing enough to impress Nintendo for their N64 and Gamecube platforms, so they found a broader audience with the Wii/NDS.

DivineAssault 4277d ago

i know wii u needs time to get things rolling but if it were ps4/720, it would be evident right away that its more powerful & looks btr.. I dont think we will see anything surpassing current gen graphics on it unless the game is developed by nintendo teams.. They are the only ones willing to put the necessary effort to make the system show its true potential.. 3rd party devs for the most part dont care to waste the time or resources to do so

R_aVe_N4277d ago

I agree and disagree with that statement. I don't think 3rd parties will push it much like you stated unless it is a 3rd party exclusive in which they can actually use all the system has to offer. I think at best most launch games will look better than the Wii for sure (which isn't to hard to do)

yabhero4277d ago

That's wrong actually Even on NextBox and PS4...AC3 wouldn't look much better because it's a port of a game designed for 360... Once developer start actually for next gen hardware... we'll see WiiU's power... judging off early ports isn't really a great way to judge power...

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

My first thought was the safe rooms in the resident evil series. When you hear that enchanting music you know you’re safe.

Killer2020UK280d ago

I literally just came here to post this. That music in the Resi 1 safe rooms is playing in my head.

Rimeskeem280d ago

I was thinking TLOU work benches. Although I remember one time where it was a false security.

Perfect. 👌👌

I'd add the top of my highrise apartment in GTA Online. That calm, quiet peace, just knowing as soon as I step out that door I will be bombarded by 8 and 12 year olds calling each other n**** and f****, trolled by combat jets and rocket launchers.

The entire map of SotC is peaceful as hell. Used to just ride around exploring it.

mastershredder280d ago (Edited 280d ago )

Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 is a peaceful area? Erm, hands down and very hard to miss, Misty Olszewski's Esoterica is the absolute epitome of peaceful areas in that game.

raiden_188280d ago

The "last of us" deer location i found to be a welcoming respite. It was nice to not have someone trying to eat me.

Kingdom Hearts tend to present half peaceful areas and most of them are amazing.

'Assassin’s Creed III': Ten Years Later

With the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the promise that the series will return to its roots, there hasn’t been a better time to get stuck into Assassin’s Creed’s back catalog, whether it’s replaying an old favorite or getting lost in previously looked-over classic.

Ten years later, we miss the old you, Assassin's Creed.

Popsicle554d ago (Edited 554d ago )

I really enjoyed Assassins Creed 3. My only complaint was that I didn’t enjoy when I had to switch from Connor to Desmond. It’s a personal preference, but Connor’s story was just more fun for me.

On a side note, Black flag was the most enjoyable of the AC games I played.
