The Top Announcements We Want and Don’t Want at E3 2012

It’s in the air. Can you smell it? Feel it? Sense it? It’s right around the corner – in fact, from the time of this post, only thirty-seven days away – and this is when anticipation truly sets in and begins to build.

It’s quite simply the most wonderful time of the year in the gaming scene, and everyone is ecstatic. But with every E3, there always comes the great anticipations, excitements and – of course – the disappointments and let downs. It’s a given with any E3.

OXCGN is proudly returning to the show floor to provide coverage like none other.

Until then, here are the top announcements we do and don’t want at E3 2012, in no particular order."

If they announce it with an upgraded engine (beyond the one used for Skyrim) and for next gen, that would pretty sweet.

i think the author truly hit the nail on the head when he said that developers need to utilize things like Kinect to do more games like Star Wars, that way it appeals to 'core gamers' more

I don't know how they went from E3 2009 - arguably one of MS's best conferences - to the atrocity that was 2010.

They're not going to bother unless those ideas get support and it seems many average gamers are pretty much satisfied with the status quo. Look at how MW3 and BF3 sold. Now compare that to Journey or No More Heroes.

Occasionally they try something new. But even those games usually don't get the notoriety they deserve.

Nintendo's Pikmin, Microsoft/Twisted Pixel's Splosion Man and Sony's Journey to name a few. All well received new games that otherwise did not sell mega millions despite the positive screening given to them by the press.

They ask for new IPs, yet 80% of their "do want" list is made of sequels...

I agree with everything except Killzone. All the KZ-Heads DO want another killzone that corrects the mistakes of kz3.

And Vita owners want some game announcements too!

3- Wii Price cut

5- COD demo
6- Halo 4 Demo
7- PS4 GT6 Tech demo
8- Dishonored demo
9- Mario for WiiU demo
10- Peter Molyneaux tech demo

In other words: E3?

MS conference will start like this:

1: starts with COD.
2: dramatic and unnessecary speech made by Don Mattrick (I hate his voice so much)

I will take bets that it will go like that. I remember that the only interesting games they showed were all shooters in 2010...

Personally feel that they redeemed themselves slightly in 2011 with mass effect 3 and lara croft.

MS's E3 08 and 09 were some there best years. E3 2010 was almost unwatchable. Last years E3 was a tad better than 2010's but was still bad. MS needs to bring it with the games and announcements they have to, and Im only talking about MS because Sony and Nintendo have been bringing it (Mostly Sony though)

MS mistake was to focus too much on Kinect, far more than Sony did Move at the time (which was also not a good part of their presentation). Now, I think they get motion controls for what they are, a tired gimmick which is cool to fool around, but it's not what we are aiming to spend our time (and money) at. Motion controls only skyrocketed once, for Nintendo, as this was the only controller, came with the new toy feel, but wore out quickly.

The good part is that now we got these gimmicks out of the way, the focus of the big 3 should lay where it matters now: new games and next-gen consoles.

Sure, they'll probably have some kind of motion control with the new boxes, which demands some presentation time, but they'll no longer extend theirselves much on this matter, these controls should remain there as an option (be it an accessory sold separately or bundled with the console), which is completely fine by me.

Half Life 3, a Vita price cut, Versus XIII, maybe a little more from GTA V, The Last Gaurdian, more from Playstation All-Stars, Ninokuni, some 3DS rpgs and maybe some new unexpected stuff too would be make it perfect for me.

What I hope is NEVER announced is a 3DS lite or a 3DSi.

This list is a little boring, simply because it’s coming from an Xbox site.
I totally agree with their list, but besides MS showing the 720, I’m not too excited for their conference.
I’m just tired of them not producing very many first party titles anymore.

Halo is lovely.
Forza is quality.
But I just want more excitement out of MS that ISN’T motion based.
Or is, as long as it’s ‘hardcore’.
Whatever that really means.
