LBP will lack "Online Create" mode at Launch.

According to Sam_Protagonist one of the Devs working on LBP. The game will not have online Multiplayer Create mode at the time of the games launch. It is to be patched at a later time, this is a let down for many that wanted to create levels with their online friends. The feature was a big selling point when the game was announced.

That would suck big time... I just don't even see how they could do something this stupid..

Masta_Killa5711d ago

Im sure most people wanted to create stages by themselves anyway. I can't wait to play satges online with friends for sure, but I dont want them ******* up my ideas while im trying to create a stage.

thor5711d ago

Yeah online create would turn into a killfest with players trying to drop huge wooden blocks on each other. Not much creation would go on. But it's still a feature that should be in there. And haven't they gone gold already? They've still got over a month until the game's due out so they should have added this as a launch feature.

Jamie Foxx5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

its COMING in a patch(i didnt even know it had this feature its a bonus),for now play the 50+ levels and LEARN to create first, no big deal

MazzingerZ5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

LOL I didn't even know that would be possible, I want to create my OWN levels for myself and my kids, I love my PSN friends but if that's the case then when it comes to level creation I prefer to be left alone

Still day 1 purchase for me!!

NO_PUDding5711d ago

Breaksfast, don't be so melodramatic.

You always seem so fair, but how the hell is this a really downer?

It's gonna be in there very soon.

And I don't want to create with people online anyway, I want to play online with people, I didn't even know I could create online multiplayer. Awesome.

Genesis55711d ago

If you ever seen buddies horse you'll know you're going to need a little time to practice anyway.

Breakfast5711d ago

Just cause YOU dont want to make crap with other people, doesnt mean I wont.

Id much rather make something with someone else. If you think theyll screw up your map, then stop playing with 10 years olds. Having multiple people working on one map is more productive and funner.

YOU dont have to use the feature if you dont want too. But i do, it was in Halos forge, and that worked out great.

Crazyglues5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

No Drama I'm just saying like I said below it depends on the time how long it takes..

For me that was the most exciting part of LBP I really wanted to play other peoples boards because I'm sure mine will suck...

And with so many creative people on the net, it's just something I was really looking forward too, and hoping to check out right out the box...
(because they said they would have a closed beta that would have the best of those boards added to the final game for download at launch)

But I guess if it's not long it won't kill me... just something I was really looking forward too.

Jamie Foxx5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

you can play other gamers creations at launch just not create together unless i dont understand what your trying to say bro?

seriously this game rocks im sure the patch will come soon..media molecule i salute you

nbsmatambo5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

note it said at "LAUNCH"..

patches could be available the next day, since it isnt "LAUNCH DAY"

Omegasyde5711d ago

1) You don't own a PS3.

2)You probally never will buy a PS3

So why even talk about missing this feature in a game........

...........YOU WILL NEVER BUY.

***Mod's can you please give us the old breakfast who wasn't just a troll but also had a sense of humor? Thanks in advance.***

UnSelf5711d ago

tbh its not that big of a deal.

most ppl who buy games hop on to the multiplayer component first before they even touch the single player mode.

if it was up to me, i would always patch the multiplayer portion of any game weeks later. both to keep the game fresh and arbitrarily allow ppl to at least play the single player mode

rosebowl235711d ago

i doubt many people would have used this feature right away. everyone wants to get used to creating levels themselves and playing levels. then when you get familiar with that the patch will be available to create levels with friends.

not a big deal. i barely even remembered this feature existed.

Real Gambler5711d ago

This is not even a news. They said during E3 that it may not be ready for launch. And guess what it's still not ready.

Worst case, you do part of the level, then give it to your friend who's the only one in the world who can make a big wheel, who then pass it to your second friend who happen to be the only one in the world who can make a red cube in fire. Then, they pass it back to you and you put the finish flag on. A little bit longer, but hey, job will get done anyway even if you cannot make big wheels and red cube yourself.

The biggest concern about LBP is the fact that most levels could be too short. So how many people do you really need to make a short level anyway?? I agree that it should be extremely fun to build a level with online friends, but currently, it's feasible with your friends sitting beside you. If you want to create mayhem, you can still do it.

So, let see:
First, play all levels included with the game
Second, play the best levels those beta testers will have made
Third, start making your own level
Fourth, make a few levels with your friends in-house and have a good laugh.
And then, and only then, hope that the patch is there.

cRaZyLeGs 935711d ago

What a stupid idea! and the game is gold???

Enigma_20995710d ago

Wow.. I sit here... and I read your comment... so full of disappointment and anguish. I start to feel your pain... and think about how much this game means to you, explaining your feelings about this revelation. Such a heart-felt testimony from your person...

Then I remember the other threads you posted in. Like this one for example...

http://n4g.com/NewsCom-2014...

... then I slap my forehead and remember just how utterly full of s*** you are.

pixelsword5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

NO one's going to know how to create a game out of the box, and with friends jacking them up, it's not likely I or anyone will want to build with friends for at least until a little after the patch comes out.

So I can wait a little while to be bothered by my friends wanting me to make super penis land with them.

chasuk085710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

Listen the game has already gone gold, so they got a whole month to work on it. I bet Mm will roll out that patch in the first week :D

And dont forget people this just means we wont be able to create a level online with our freinds. We will still be able to share our creating levels between freinds. Just not make them together online.

gambare5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

I'm going to be busy playing the game and playing co op with my friends from launch, why is that news about the delay of a feature of the game so terrible? I mean, we gonna have that feature soon, it's not canceled but delayed, it would be worse if we get the game delayed just for that feature.

anyway I gonna take a LOT of time in creating a level, maybe the patch will be out days before I even finish a simple level.

"The feature was a big selling point when the game was announced. "

the feature IS a selling point, they didn't had removed the feature from the game, they just delay it.

I'm a little bit confuse about this :

"The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released. Offline creating with up to 4 people on one PlayStation 3 however is available right from the get go."

the ability to create..... that means the creation mode will be co op? wait.... then the online co op with custom scenarios isn't affected, is the CREATION CO OP MODE is totally different from the ONLINE CO OP USER CREATED GAME.

gambare5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

Okay...... that was a huge misread, is the Create mode, I was hearing about the Creation mode online, in which you are able to create a level with the help of your friend online, I thought it was the online Co op user created content play.

As mentioned above, yes indeed you can play multiplayer with any combination of online and local players. "

ah, and this is good, I can play online sharing my game in the house and play with others online at the same time.

Saigon5710d ago

I think you took this a little too far...this is not that big of a deal, if they said we werent able to create content out of the box, then it would be an issue...I understand why this feature is tking a while...do you...lets hope its ready a couple of weeks after release, but even if its not it still won't be that big of a deal...

Mrs.Breakfast has a PS3.

i played MGO with her and she tea-bagged me.
brags about it all the time and has a tattoo of it on her back.

i'm a little disappointed about this news, but i was going to create levels on my own at first anyhow so it's not that much of a damper. by the time i become l337 designer the patch should be out.

Bnet3435710d ago

I purchased a PS3 just for this game, WTF man! I wanted to play online from day one.

himdeel5710d ago

...was available and I'll be using my wife as the Guinea pig for the levels I create. I really want LBP just so she and I can play some and create some classically remade levels of her favorite game, Mario Bros.

Besides I wouldn't want my friends to see the levels I create until they are done. What sense does it make to create a level with my friends and then turn around and play those same levels with them that they just helped to create.

TRUE it would be fun to watch my pals die as we test new level designs etc and haggle over what should be placed where and how, but this give me a chance to get a feel for the game before I invite people into my LBP world :)

shelbygt335710d ago

Seriously, you need to double check your PS3 Exclusives list there... Lots of those aren't exclusive at all.

the_gaming_guy5710d ago

This is kinda rubbish. I wanted to make a level based on this http://www.youtube.com/watc...

CrazzyMan5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

lol, so you are saying, that PS3 OWNERS should play exclusive games ONLY? =)))

Anyway, on topic, you probably won`t be able to SHARE new created levels ONLINE and play them together, BUT, you still will be able to play those over 50 levels ONLINE with friend + your own created level offline with friends, and probably after 1 month or a little more, ability to SHARE and PLAY you created level ONLINE will be available.

It`s not like anyone going to play ONLY 1 game all this Christmas?

I dont care, i will be spending my time on finishing the levels that come in the disc to learn how to make them, then ill be creating levels by myself, and then create them online with friends when the update comes out, to me is not a big deal

Crazyglues5711d ago

well that all depends on how long will it take for the update to come out... a month... two months... 5 months..?

skynidas5711d ago

I dont think that it will take more than 2 months, if u read the post they said that they are already working on it

micro_invader5711d ago

That's what I was thinking too. I'd finish all the main levels first then start creating.

DavidMacDougall5711d ago

Totally agree i said this on the open zone

Omegasyde5711d ago

Crazy don't feel like you are getting ripped off man. You will get free DLC from other players as well Media Molecule/Sony.

The game is also 4 players online and off line. Thus beating Mario at his own game of superb platforming with multiple people
(SSBM doesn't count)

I also see Nintendo doing the next Mario game where players can play as mario, luigi, toad, koopa in a side scroller. In Fact I call it right now: Nintendo creates next Mario game with 4 player co-op.

The gaming GOD5711d ago (Edited 5711d ago )

I say that because when you take a look at the game's trophy list, one of the is called the "socialite" trophy.

The socialite trophy is achieved when you along with 3 other people NOT on your friends list create and level.

That trophy right there tells you online create mode is there.

So I think the feature will be in the game at the start. Not something patched into an update like the forum says

thor5711d ago

Socialite trophy is awarded for those who COMPLETE a level with 3 people not on their friends list. Not create. But that level could quite happily be a level that ONE of you has created offline, possibly with other players offline.

Julie5710d ago (Edited 5710d ago )

just now he edited his post...well here is the update:

"Is online create in the game from launch?
No it's not, however it will be included in the first game update after launch. We're working on making this available as quickly as possible, but want to make sure it's right before releasing it.

What does online create actually mean?
Online create, quite simply, is the ability to use the create side of the game in an online multiplayer fashion.

So I can still share my levels?
Absolutely. All of the sharing features of the game are up and running.

And I can still play multiplayer?
Yes, both online and offline multiplayer (or any combination of the two) for playing through the story, or any downloaded levels.

And I can still create levels with my friends offline?
Totally. Up to 4 players can work together on a single PS3 to create levels. Also, you can still work collaboratively with friends to build levels by exchanging them through the share portion of the game.

From my perspective, which you can take or leave, it is well worth getting some practise in with the create side of the game before trying to use it in a multiplayer fashion as it can be somewhat frustrating to get things done if everyone you're working with is still getting used to all the functions. While it's not ideal to have to wait for this feature to be released, it might actually be beneficial to creators until it happens as you'll be able to work out the tools entirely, and figure out how best to work with others on your projects

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow1d 14h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo18218h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie9h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

PonyRider3h ago

Being downvoted for speaking facts is crazy. They want to spin whatever fits their narrative of evil corporation.

Hereandthere1m ago

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

PonyRider3h ago

The Blue camp really do be doing mental gymnastics.

Hereandthere3m ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

OtterX21h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

RNTody21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno20h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno18h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

PonyRider3h ago

Lack of investment and killing off the servers ring a bell?

fsfsxii5h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno3h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?

Most Offensive Video Games That Would Never Cut It Today

Times are changing, and these games would have never been made in today's climate.

wealthofgeeks.com
thorstein54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Every single time someone uses this phrase whether it's music, movies, books, comics, video games, etc it's always the same claim.

The ubiquitous "they" won't allow it to be made. And every decade these claims are made the claimant completely ignores all the "offensive" material that is published when the claim is made.

In ten years, you can write a new article about how you can't make games like Helldivers 2, Resident Evil VIII, Mortal Kombat I, Dragon's Dogma 2, Alan Wake 2 etc etc etc any more.

MrBaskerville53d ago

Yeah, people wouldn't be constantly outraged if there weren't games that people found enraging. The whole SBI discourse shit wouldn't be a thing if all games were inoffensive. A game like Starfield can make a guy froth at his mouth, so there will always be room for a list like this.

0hMyGandhi52d ago

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are massive caveats.
TV shows like Venture Bros, Ren and Stimpy, and Aqua Team wouldn't/couldn't be made today. Hell, Ren and Stimpy was a *children's* show, same thing with Rocko's Modern Life.

It's not for some arbitrary reason, either. It's branding and IP alignment. Companies are far more risk-averse than they were when I was kid in the 90's. Of course, you have companies coming out of the woodwork to hell spur on similar content, but remember: Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and some incredibly provocative material.

And for movies? it's pretty obvious. American Pie/Wedding Crashers/Eurotrip among many other "raunch coms" have fallen out of style, and are absolutely outside what the modern day film industry is willing to stand by.
Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Dumb and Dumber, Freddy Got Fingered, Rat Race, Harold and Kumar, and Van Wilder follow suit.

Remember: I am not explicitly talking about films put onto streamers. I am talking wide-releases in actual theaters. Same thing goes for games: Carmageddon, Duke Nukem, Manhunt, Six Days In Fallujah (with their original concept), Hatred, and so on and so forth. Of course, I'd be inclined to mention most tactical shooters like Rainbow Six and Joint Ops as well, due to cultural sensitivity regarding *who* you are shooting and why.

And not all of it is bad (obviously). Tastes change, and perspectives change to fit the demographic.
I should add that I'm a lefty, living in L.A. Working in film.

thorstein52d ago

The Boys, Invincible, Jojo Rabbit, Deadpool, Gen V, Last of Us, Banshee... There are plenty of media being made today that people will claim "can't be made today".

Profchaos52d ago

Yeah but if you consider manhunt which was basically a snuff film could you seriously make that game with high than PS2 era graphics.

thorstein52d ago

The Outlast Trials just came out.

But the storyline of Manhunt was that you were executed. But then lived. And if you didn't do as you were told, you'd die. And the people you killed were not innocents.

It was all filmed by a psychopath.

As we speak GTA VI is being finished up for a release. You get to play a Bonnie and Clyde type of protagonist who run up against the law.

Bodycam looks so real.

People are making those games. Articles like this will always exist no matter how incorrect they are, no matter how many times they blame "them" for whatever it is "they" do to prevent "those" games from being made.

Number1TailzFan53d ago

The UK is the biggest junk country pandering to that nonsense as well, with laws against free speech and expression to match. It got so bad even Rowan Atkinson made a video on free speech about it.

Top 20 Best PlayStation 3 Games (20-11)

Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Is the PlayStation 3 retro? This is a surprisingly hard question to answer as the system definitely has the age to be considered retro, having launched in 2006, over 15 years ago now. But with it being home to so many massive games, many of which still hold up today and in fact were released for the PlayStation 4 when that console was released, make the PS3 a retro console that doesn’t feel retro."

shinoff2183739d ago

No ps3 is not retro. I dont even consider ps2 era retro. All imo.

shinoff2183739d ago

Typically, the term retro is given to items which are at least 20 years old (but not yet 40 years old).

Quick google search

badz149739d ago

No the PS3 is not yet a retro console. But if you're gonna put 1 game from a series in this list, then LBP2 should be there instead of the original, Motorstorm PR is also an overall better game than the 1st game and to put Tools of Destruction over A Crack in Time is a blasphemy when ACiT is the best game in the series.
