Yes, most of the money is made on software. But dont forget:
- Console makers lose a LOT of money on hardware. Especially, Microsoft this generation as they have 3 consoles and one of them is very powerful, so they have to sell a lot of software to make up for it. But they wont, because not enough will buy the console to make a big return on it. There are rumors they will put out 2 more consoles soon enough. So they will have 5 or 6 consoles running concurrently and make le...
quote me: Microsoft will lose next generation with their focus off of their console exclusivity and making all their games multiplatform.
1) There is no incentive to buy their console if you can play elsewhere.
2) you're slapping your current customers that invested in the Xbox One X with quick release of new console
3) their exclusives are solid, but few, predictable and tried
It almost looks like they want to burn the console business altoge...
Have you checked out his website? Very weird satanic stuff.
I have no interest in the game and I will probably buy it on Epic.
Price of games stayed the same, dollars value down, price of game development skyrocketed. This is good for all developers, and lessens the effect of the middle man. This only benefits developers, who are often forced to work tremendous amounts of overtime to compensate for the deadlines put on because of astronomical development costs.
Epic is for the developers.
Honestly, The Order 1886 had fantastic gunplay and a lot of unique weapons too. If they would have either had more time, or just focused more on the level design rather than the story or graphics, it would have been a Gears of War killer in my eye. Especially with the route Gears of War went into.
I would love to see a sequel. The characters are really interesting, the setting is amazing, and werewolves, vampires aspect is really needed in today's games. If they add in ...
Yes please. Sony has some great Story-based games. But now its time to put some attention to multiplayer games and just fun-based games in general. They need Zelda, Smash Bros, and Mario competitors and games of that ilk in general to really cement. It wouldn't hurt to add some Halo and Gears competitors too.
Good read but I disagree. I think Fortnite has better game balance than Apex, better gunplay overall, better and more clear aesthetic, and most of all, a lot more depth and creativity in the form of building. It really changes the way one plays, and adds a defensive mechanic in a shooter, something we really dont see as a core mechanic in most games.
I would argue, that the building aspect is the reason why Fortnite is as is big as it is and not simply the battle royale sys...
IMO, those features dont justify a 30 percent cut.
Steam = 30% cut
Epic = 12% cut
It's not necessarily enticing to the consumer (yet), but believe me it is enticing to developers.
Imagine being an Indie Developer and only paying 12 percent of profit instead of 30 percent, and actually being able to afford quitting your day job to work on your dream full time.
That's an understandable reaction, but you have to understand that modern game development is incredibly expensive and risky. Valve taking 30 percent of a games profit is way too steep in the modern era, where game prices haven't gone up but the value of the dollar has gone down tremendously, and the cost of game development has also gone up exponentially.
I get that people are weary of Epic, but honestly, I feel very passionate about the success of Epic Store, as ...
While Apex Legends is a fun game in its own right, it is not a Fortnite killer.
No offense, but Apex Legends doesn't do anything unique. It is sort of a solid collection of other games. It really is an Overwatch x Black Ops 4, which is fine, but doesnt address what made Fortnite such a phenomenon: The consistent/precise gunplay, clean aesthetic, and most importantly, the BUILDING aspect.
The building aspect of Fortnite FUNDAMENTALLY changes the way t...
@kevnb
We won't know that until the game releases and the sales figures are lower than the previous game. It can still be 17% fewer sales and still make more profit than if it released on Steam.
@kevnb Yes the base is bigger on Steam, but Epic has a decent sized base too. All the Fortnite, Paragon, Unreal Tournament players, and Unreal developers have access to the Epic Store.
All those players who really want the game will buy the game, and maybe some on the fence wont, but I'd wager to say it ends up selling a similar but smaller number to that of the previous title On Epic Store, but they will make a lot more money out of it.
Furthermore,...
I understand people dont want to abandon steam, but from a developers perspective, you stand to make substantially more releasing on Epic Store.
The price of games has been steady for over 3 console generations, while the cost of creating games has been increasing exponentially, and not to mention inflation affecting the dollar's worth.
I applaud the move from the Metro team for, if nothing else, pushing competition and making developing games plausib...
Good list of games that were up. Really the list should be like 30 games from the list:

Well the emulation sucks as the refresh rates didnt match leading to a worse experience.
The game selection is atrocious.
And the price point was way to high for that selection. But even so, the main idea is for it to be the BEST games on the platform, which this thing missed the mark on so badly that it was a waste of time.
Played this first game and thought it was good.
I'll pass on this one
Lol no.
Halo 3 brought forge, theater, solid gameplay, story, and fantastic music. History will remember it fondly.
While Halo doesn't have the power it once did, it still sells exceptionally well, and it is one of the things us PlayStation converts miss about the Xbox platform.
When all games look like trash by next-gen comparison, Halo 3 will stand among the most revered because of its solid gameplay, not some other gimmick or age...
They only retrieve the info if you want them to. Epic will win. They minimize the middle man
