I think the majority of people want to be a human character. There is a reason most games don't have different species as the main character. Humans are humans, and they connect with and understand humans. I understand why some might want something different but the easiest and most personal stories to tell will always be human.
@Wolffenblitz
Enlighten me
I agree. Steam should keep 30% of every developer's profits. Its only right! I don't care that games take 300 people and millions of dollars to make. I don't care that the dollars worth has been declining and the price of games has remained steady. I don't care that game studios close down all the time. I don't care that the AA game has essentially gone extinct.
LOL. If you think Fortnite is big because it is a Battle Royale, you know nothing of game design.
You're right! Gearbox doesn't deserve money for the game they made. The right thing is for Steam to keep 30% of the profits!
Holy cow! This is big news, honestly.
@seraphim
Do you honestly think that is a viable strategy? How risky is that? Only a few games year crack multi millions of sales a year, and sometimes they end up breaking even still. This is why the AA game has somewhat been eliminated in the modern era, and indie gaming is usually a fruitless venture. If there's an equation for how to ease the risk of game development and ease of forcing developers to work ridiculous hours because of budget constraints, then its taki...
This guy is right. Ive been saying it for a while: price of games has been the same for 25 years, theres inflation, cost of development has risen exponentially from 10 people to 200 people, and steam taking 30% is just not sustainable. There is a reason microtransactions are always tacked on. Steam's greedy 30% cut as the middle man must go.
Its easy for loser competitors to declare their acceptance of cross play. Xbox had a chance to do it last gen and they declined.
Put on your business cap; does it make sense to do cross play with your position in the market? i dont think so
Yes Really.
It's good for developers who are forced to work their employees to the bone because Steam is a greedy middle man, taking 30% cut.
Not necessarily good for consumers directly, but indirectly, as the development model becomes much more sustainable when you have middle man stepping out of the way.
Are multiplatform games ever "Playstation Hits"? If not, then I got bad news for switch owners.
Only partially. They are using the Unreal Engine so a humongous chunk of the work is done in that way. The Luminous Engine development was supposedly part of the reason why Final Fantasy XV took as long as it did.
But I agree with both of you. There is a tremendous amount of art that needs to be produced, but more importantly, the art has to have the right tone, quality, and charm. Otherwise, they rework it, as we saw earlier with cyberconnect dropping out of development. T...
They couldnt use a less spoiler image?
Im a Sony guy, but I cant lie: Persona 5 on switch probably doubles the sales numbers on it.
LOL We Do not need Female protaganist in DMC.
I said it once and Ill say it again: this is Xbox's last console, either by choice or failure.
RIIIIIIIDDDDGE RAACCCEEEEERRR!

Steam = middle man taking too big a cut in exchange for a few unnecessary whistles.
Epic GS = middle man taking smaller cut, for a more straight-forward exchange.
All of you make great points.
My reasons why it will fail:
- Terrible input lag
- image quality drops
- abrupt stuttering/buffering
- distracting resolution dips
- lack of exclusives
- invasion of privacy (that's how theyll achieve a low price point)
- not necessarily owning your games library (they can lock your account if you post something against their ideology)
- pushing their leftist agenda (i...
It's Microsoft damage control and PR. They have been spewing out content lately, and it miraculously hits the front page.
