Well I'm not so sure about that. I mean every game says you should take a 15 minute break every hour... who does that?... they are erring on the side of caution. 3D can make some people feel weird because of the conflict between seeing a 3D image but not being able to focus as though it's 3D (because it's actually flat).

Movement in 3D space is still a problem for Kinect. All you can do is take gestures and assign them to the usual "move forward" and "turn left" and such. Which is just like controlling a game with a mouse and keyboard except more cumbersome. Kinect's strength is 1-1 motion, so games where you become a virtual character and move as them. It's just not very good at acting as a controller where you wave your left arm to "press" left.

Yeah does look like shit. I don't know who on earth would want to control a game this way. It's cool showing off the tech, but all that's been done is to assign buttons to stupid gestures. And no way there are enough gestures to cope with all the hotkeys you can set in WoW. At least not that you could remember and perform quickly. This wouldn't work even for a normal length gaming session let alone the amount WoW addicts play.

@Bhai

Good video. The techniques they are using seem to be quite simple but clever; overlaying a footprint texture that has some parallax depth from a shader. It's not above and beyond what, say, Uncharted 2 does, and Crysis may do it as well but I'm not sure.

The water effects don't look great though when the wave meets the shore - with waves that size you'd expect huge amounts of water to come splashing up with each wave as it travels acros...

Yes indeed.

I thought when they announced the first delay from 2009 that it would never get finished. It's in development hell, with people who are not fully committed to the project (because their real jobs are taking up their time).

You have to have serious issues to project a 2009 release date and then not release until 2011 at the earliest. They have changed engines before as well (like DNF did).

The point of this mod was to upgrade H...

Who honestly thinks these products will have long legs?

They are peripherals, leeching off the existing userbases. They will not have the same growth that consoles do. They are toys to get at christmas. Sony and MS would be wasting their time to make Move/Kinect-exclusive games. Why spend millions developing things for 1/8 of your userbase? Just add some extra features that are a bit crap (or don't add them at all). These products will only keep going by pumping money int...

It's not really very far fetched if indeed they sold 13 million last fiscal year.

lolol you really haven't played it, have you? It fits into the broad category of "adventure game". You control a character and move around the environment and interact with stuff. Yes the plot is not as bendable as some hoped, but this is really because of development limitations.

5289d ago 4 agree1 disagreeView comment

If you're going to point out plot inconsistencies, that was not the right one to choose lol. That's not even a problem. Yes, I understand that Heavy Rain would have flopped on its face as a film, because there is so much more quality out there in terms of scriptwriting and acting in films. But compare it to games, and you have something on another level. It is a game after all.

I did wonder how they would create difficulty in this game. It always seemed as though you could quite easily complete each puzzle through messing about with different angles, and IGN have kind of confirmed this. Which is a shame. I don't know if the original Echochrome had this problem (never played it apart from the easy demo).

lolol

That's it, don't read the review, just scream "ANTI-PS3 CONSPIRACY!!111" and ignore it. What happens when you do that is you get the GT5 "level 40 damage" debacle, and we all know how that ended up (IGN vindicated).

I went on the first race in the extreme series just to try it and I zoomed in front of the competition; it was as easy as the sunday cup. Every race in A-spec prior to this that I tried was just as easy (even the single-make races such as the Gallardo trophy once I'd installed new tyres in my car).

@Bathyj

You're not taking enough steps back. If you implement a system where you need to buy cars at roughly real-world prices, and the prizes you win for ...

I agree, but this is only for certain events in GT. I am OK with the difficulty being as high as it is. I would like to have a few gold trophies for my troubles but hey, if they want to make a difficult game, they can make a difficult game and I'll be happy not completing everything. In fact I'll relish the challenge. That's why I spent 3 hours trying to get a gold in one of the licence tests - got it finally :)

The trouble is that for most of the game, it's n...

Yeah the rally mode has some really nice touches - great attention to detail.

It's just a shame that for every little bit of detail I notice, there is also a massive gaping hole in some other area of the game. I think I would have preferred a decent A-spec mode (you know, with actual challenge and no grinding) rather than to know that my co-driver has written the correct directions on his notepad.

Why the black bars?????? It's so odd when they do that. Just do a horizontal split and lose the black bars. It's a small enough section of the screen as it is.

GT5 for best graphics? lol

5298d ago 2 agree7 disagreeView comment

I wouldn't read too much into it. They said they want to "keep" it realistic. Meaning UC2 fits their definition of "realistic". But UC2 as we know had magic sap and crazy "impossible" moments and the usual impossible platforming (like hanging onto a frozen ledge with no gloves...)

5298d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

The thumbnail? No. It's a promotion shot. The game isn't nearly finished yet so they won't have any quality screenshots just yet.

@sayonara

Well actually the last FF game developed by Square was FFX-2 which sucked. So I think it was going downhill before the merger (though could just be an anomaly).
