I’d think you primarily would as aren’t you always championing games being less bare bones and story driven?

Sony never owned the Crash Bandicoot IP or any part of it

@Bladefist: That wouldn’t exactly help a Sony case but yes, Sony did neglect to encrypt some data. Not all but some. Being frank but for a company like Sony more than should have been.

There was a lot of issues in that. Some servers were found not to be updated. Those non-updated servers also posed a problem as well since some were on versions known to have security issues.

Not looking to start a war either but let’s be factual here. As soon as Sony got b...

...Why did you bother to add a “may be” statement to a story that contains details from the developer, not publisher where the content illustrates that Inaba believes that the development company he is a part of holds lots of fault? While avoiding listing MS faults?

Inaba isn’t saying that may be MS had fault. He’s literally saying and listing ways Platinum was at fault for a lot. Even down to how they were developing the game over a long period of time but they weren’t rea...

@Topher: You’re using one line.Then Inaba states,

““At the bare minimum, it’s unique for us as a title in so much as we feel that we didn’t do all of the things that we needed to do as a developer,” he said. “There were a lot of painful lessons, but that helped us grow as a studio.”

“Inaba conceded that “maybe” the studio announced Scalebound too early. However, he disagreed that its cancellation fuelled Platinum’s decision to move towards self-publishing...

Microsoft and Nintendo combined financial damage: $3.8 million

Sony financial damage from PSN hack: More than $137 million
77 million individual personal details spanning logins, credit card numbers, and other data Sony kept.

Since you wanted to bring up PSN after all. Good thing Sony wasn’t involved with this one hrm? Sony does have a bad history of acting slowly and letting damage esc...

So just curious but where does Activision use the word “microtransactions” in any way? It seems like the author of the story linked the discussion to microtransactions when in context it doesn’t entirely fit.

They literally talk about individuals participating for in game content. That message tells me what people should already know. Going forward just like currently and previously a large majority of in game content will be accessible for those that participate in the gam...

I actually liked the video because he presents numerous titles and what happens or can on both PS3 and Vita. Some games, very few on those two consoles it seems, have zero effects happen because of name changing. Why they work and others don’t is miffing in ways. But to see multiple different effects is also very informative I think along with presenting it.

If I saw this and wanted to name change on PS4 I’d definitely be considering what is or can happen to titles on PS3 o...

One could argue it’s also fucked up to call such gestures not noble just because it doesn’t fit with what you think should be happening with a third parties money along with them giving a little something back to gamers too.

Is it all sparkles and unicorns? No. But it’s not like they do have to give anything to anyone at all or it’s a bad gesture.

They could hoard it all away and make more by not giving it away after all.

...What does any of that have to do with GameStop changing their return policy to allow new games for store credit? They aren’t marking them as used for the first 48 hours therefore it’d be a one to one price of what you paid. Then that credit would apply to any product in GameStop, not a like item.

I’m also pretty sure Frye’s didn’t do that with all their content in store, namely CDs and movies.

@Fishy Fingers: So being exclusive would result in more success? When they’re saying they’re already strapped and Stormdivers is likely to be unsuccessful even in the developers view?

They know they need to try getting the maximum exposure so they can get the maximum gain. If they’re already having issues and they chose exclusivity sure they get a payday but then they also lose potential sales. So I don’t think exclusivity would help them.

That said they ...

I also wanted to point out in regards to the context I presented above and also say that Cerny also does not state what kind of Office he uses. Since both Word and Excel are Office products of Microsoft. If he’s using an onboard variation that is downloaded to the PC I don’t see 15 seconds being likely. If he uses Office 365 however those resources push over data and are not stored to the device. Load time would increase.

It would make sense for an individual like Mark Cern...

Cerny referred to Sony as “cloud-gaming pioneers”. Sony has invested so much in buying Gaikai and other cloud services along with expanding PS Now.

Cerny also showed backwards compatibility for PS4 games on PS5 & nothing else. It was also emphasized that the ability to do so is based on the fact that PS4 & PS5 will share architecture. But we already know that nothing else in the PlayStation family of devices is on that same architecture.

I don’t s...

@Razzer: Even so it would seem like it would have to be one or the other. In the story Cerny also demonstrates load time differences between the PS4 Pro and a devkit for the next gen counterpart. The PS4 Pro sports a standard HDD and it takes 15 seconds to fast travel on PS4 Pro. 0.8 seconds with the next gen console and solid state.

“On the TV, Spidey stands in a small plaza. Cerny presses a button on the controller, initiating a fast-travel interstitial screen. When Spide...

This as well, directly from this story:
“Google is leading a charge away from traditional consoles by launching a cloud-gaming service, Stadia, later this year. Microsoft’s next version of the Xbox will presumably integrate cloud gaming as well to allow people to play Xbox games on multiple devices. Sony’s plans in this regard are still unclear—it’s one of the many things Cerny is keeping mum on, saying only that “we are cloud-gaming pioneers, and our vision should become clear as we...

“Because it’s based in part on the PS4’s architecture, it will also be backward-compatible with games for that console. As in many other generational transitions, this will be a gentle one, with numerous new games being released for both PS4 and the next-gen console.”

Not likely as PS3 games were developed specifically for the Cell processor. Plus if they do they’ll eliminate all point to PS Now.

2251d ago 3 agree3 disagreeView comment

So does the existence of PS Now stop consumers from wanting PS5 if that’s instantly what does it for Microsoft and Google? Then in the instance of Microsoft there’s a better chance of more backwards compatibility versus PS5.

They actually state the only reason PS4 backwards compatibility would happen is because of equal architecture. Anything else however is not on that architecture. So PS Now will likely still be required for PS3 namely.

...Wasn’t the Blu-Ray drive introduced in the PS3 a very large part of the price?

And Microsoft would likely be spending the most on disc drives compared to the competition as the drives found in Xbox One S and X are higher end drives versus Xbox Ones, PS4s, and even the drive found in the Pro.

2253d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Microsoft is offering a physical drive in their product beyond any other physical drive in a console. Microsoft’s drive actually supports more features compared to the ones found in other consoles.

4K disc reading ability is one. Larger capacity discs are another.
