“ "It's hard for people in any industry to accept change, especially when you've been focused on doing things one way for so long," said Ted Price, Insomniac's president and CEO, in a recent interview with Polygon. "But as an industry, we're being forced to become comfortab...

That's why they were independent and claimed to want that independence. If they wanted that freedom they should've stuck to their guns. Not took a payoff.

It's also proven by other third parties what advantages there are for other networks, publishers, or developers to link to one service. Like many of the features listed above. Namely purchase transfer.

Fortnite is the easiest example.

Minecraft is consistently on PlayStations top selling and most played lists. While a MS property.

Minecraft is also one of the top selling games of all time. It has no problem moving units or staying relevant.

To be blunt Sony can not say the same for ANY of its intellectual properties. Minecraft has moved more units than Sony did PS2s. There's more PC copies alone than there are Vitas purchased.

For shooters namely the Xbox One controller is said, by many if not most, to be the superior option

I think you mean to say PS4 will finally be able to play with the Minecraft community made up of PC, mobile, Xbox, and Switch players as all other outlets are already included outside of PS4 & last gen consoles like PS Vita, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. As every other place Minecraft is available is already running Bedrock.

I really don't see Microsoft changing the system they already have in place and honestly, why should they? Their current system allows for crossplay, chat across platforms, purchase transfer, and even level transfer for those that want to carry worlds around with them. It's also a simple way to orient friends lists towards one provider without segregating communities.

I see it as great news as it should mean more crossplay possibilities going forward. As a gamer I see it as a win I'd be able to play with more friends and family regardless of platform.

People should be enjoying games. Not enjoying a brand.

You likely won't get agreement from the Sony side after the announcement they're planning to produce PC versions of some PS exclusives. If you do the realization will set in that PC by all accounts is no part of the Sony ecosystem and Microsoft has never shied away from PC. Sony did however in numerous instances like the destruction of Vaio and SOE.

Further with Sony even admitting they are considering using Azure it says that MS has the larger and more abundant onl...

The only version that didn't have to happen is the Nintendo Switch version. Mojong had contracts in place to produce the other versions before Microsoft purchased them.

You seem to not know what a contractual agreement is. Further I don't think you understand how rights to IPs work. If you do based on your logic Sony could've stopped Spyro and Crash from going anywhere but PlayStation.

Nope as Microsoft has a rather large investment in PC and never fully gave up. Not to mention their investment in Azure which Sony seems to want to use as Azure is superior on the server front in tech, more locations, and more servers available.

I'm Obscures defense as well GT Sport was multiplayer oriented before adding single player after launch. Most also agree GT Sports single player isn't even close to the caliber of past GT games.

@IRetrouk: I have my platinum in it. Was good fun if you had a good team that could work towards a common goal.

That said if MAG were multiplatform I think it'd have stayed around longer. Plus it'd have decreased wait times to get into games. MAG is the one property that should've been multiplatform from the start.

Ironically also a game like MAG being multiplatform could have helped decrease the toxicity involved in fanboy wars. Who cares wha...

They definitely aren't going to add download capabilities to PC. That would mean there's all PC native versions which would then be EASILY modded & redistributed.

If they did so how would that be any different from Microsoft as they'd be being PC devs again and it'd literally require a PC version of all PlayStation games going forward?

...Why do people think you can't download PS3 games to PS4 with PS Now?

Things like this will be a bigger excuse for Sony not to take part in gaming conventions in the future. Talking up a budget title at one is just stupid.
