yeah, trailers are meant to convey that feeling.
i do think it'll be a good game, but i don't think the trailer did anything particularly amazing. intense music and quick-cut editing are pretty typical for movies and games these days.

killzone 2 took 5-6 years and it's one of the worst shooters of this generation.
i actually thought alan wake was pretty good...certainly not something that should have taken as long as it did, but at least it was fun. not just some bland, colorless, cliche, pile of junk that provided more boredom than c-span.
what confuses me is that the guy basically says they started with 1 line of code and went from there, but from the videos i saw, this game looks like it's running on Rockstar's engine. seems a li'l odd

it may look the best, but that doesn't mean it looks good. and my rig is just fine. i can easily max out crysis 1 and 2. and since you admittedly haven't played it on pc, you probably shouldn't express an opinion based on ignorance. google Brink + Framerate and you'll see tons of people (mostly ATI users) who are having problems with it.

i got this game on PC, so i may not have the char problem, but i get the awful frame rate, the even worse gameplay, and the even worse graphics. lucky me.
i've never been more disappointed about 50 dollars in my life. and i feel like all the websites that did previews for this game really let me down.

i think alan wake is a very good game. it's a little dated, but still a lot of fun with an interesting story and characters.
it's not some cliche junk game that gets way more credit than it deserves where you've seen all these characters, one liners, and set pieces before.
i'm working on my 3rd play through (now that i have both DLCs) and i've pretty much mastered the combat...
i was so convinced i was getting this game...now i simply can't decide. i think steam is the way to go this time though. they seem to have pushed up the release to very close to midnight.
you know they'll have a halo (and probably a gears) ready to go for a new system launch. halo is to MS as Mario is to Nintendo. That will be enough to sell systems. and if it's truly a next gen halo, it would be enough to sell it to me. MS will probably also work out a big deal with Activision to get a next gen COD (which will still be running on a last gen engine) ready to go for launch.
of course, if it turns out MS and Sony are going the way of nintendo and dum...
it is a lotta fun. the dedicated servers are what's making the difference.

how were they caught off guard? assuming what they are saying is actually true (about being hacked), they were receiving threats for at least a couple weeks. not only that, but security on giant networks isn't a new thing, and this isn't some random company...it's Sony. they should have tons of security in place to protect PSN and their users.
well, with psn down, people have even more time to blog about sony and troll around in the forums...so...i'm guessing a lot.

I think they've secretly been working on a new engine and a new half life. and they will probably do an Episode 3 to showcase new tech before announcing an actual sequel. OR, Episode 3 will be the final send off for the Source engine.
all i saw was that the developers said a console port is "doable." i didn't see them say they were actually doing it. haven't heard any confirmation for diablo being on console either.
sounds like wishful thinking to me. not there's anything wrong with that. but i don't think either game is terribly demanding on an average PC rig, might be time for you to just step up to the current generation.
