The driving portions were certainly better than GTA and always have been, but it was outclassed in virtually every other factor.

Chase the Gunman has to rank as one of the most frustrating missions of all time. The original Driver game was a better game overall, particularly with Driver 2's wonky walking physics.
The series went into decline after the original, sadly.
Oh the number of times I tried to complete the opening car park level. Still, absolutely classic game that set the bar for the city driving genre and paved the way for the 3D GTAs that were to come.
Nothing will ever compare to the original Driver game.
Anything video game related is tough to break into especially if you're new to the industry. It takes years of small work and even finding a place that will give you a chance In this industry it's a big risk to take in someone who's not experienced.
