I was expecting Heavy Rain to be your typical point and click adventure game. I do agree and many game developers are finally switching from duo-core PCs to Quad Core PCs. Okay Gears of War was heavily influenced by the crappy looking killswitch. The reviewer was not talking about gameplay mechanics, it was towards the simple fact that this is the first videogame in the crime thriller drama theme. Unlike many games that focus on war, sci-fi, spaghetti western (Gun, Read dead Revolver, and A call to Juarez)and comic/urban themes. So, it was also pointing out the various themes that Hollywood movies are based but have not been touched by videogames.
So, I was proven wrong reviewers do still enjoy innovation. I was expecting a low score since the other two PS3 exclusives were reviewed poorly. This review while not perfect is pretty good and it shows that when the correct reviewer reviews the game it does a better job than a reviewer who is new to gaming or is a casual shooter fan.
