Pac-Man for the Atari 2600. I cleaned the house for two months to earn enough money to buy this. There was an arcade within walking distance where I got addicted to Pac-Man. The port was a big dirty trashcan full of poop.
This device would be the only way I could plat Wipeout or Super Street Fighter 4 (although I'd probably still have to do "C to shining C" normally).
Hmm, I haven't had to grind much at all to progress, but I'm playing on Normal-Adventuresome. I'm about 20-some hours in now and have Gorodo in my party. I sell health potions on a regular basis as they keep clogging up my inventory!
The most I had to grind was 5-10 battles before I took out the Gelatin Boss in Gorodo's basement.
You're right though, this game is a love letter to fans of turn-based RPGs.
Maybe the devs grew up playing Atari games and just had an affinity with that artwork, so when they saw the mockup of the art for U3 something nostalgic clicked and they said "YES, that looks good."
If we're using time played we'd also need to include Go. I'd rank those two on the same level.
Hard to chose just five, but that's a good list.
For me, I'd add XCOM: UFO Defense. That game took everything I had and laughed at me.
I would have probably accepted a Borderlands 1 ending that was comprised of tentacles and tears though...
The description made it sound like a combination of Mega Man, El Shaddai, and Shadow of the Colossus. The news article has served its purpose and I am now kind of curious.
Devs said mid-August.
I'd almost accept a single image in place of a review, but at least make the image come from the game you're reviewing. Hehe. Back in the late 90's I was more on the Monster Rancher side of things as opposed to Monster Hunter.
NIS had the best game ports on the PSP too, I think they just know how to do it correctly. I'll break down and buy the high end vita model 3G/Wifi etc when Disgaea 5 is released.
Dead Space 2. Not really scary anymore. I didn't care what was around each corner or lurking in each vent because I had the skills, weapons, and ammo to handle whatever version of necromorph popped out at me. Not scary. Interesting, but really just another gory 3rd person shooter. I thought Splatterhouse was better than DS2.
I hope the carrier bags are better than the EVO 2010 bags. They needed some padding and an little extra room for joysticks that don't unscrew from the base for transport. Then again the 2010 bags were only $25 or $30 (I can't remember exactly).
Finally! Time to pull Team Mythos out of retirement and get some green tentacle paint jobs on the cars!
I'll get a Vita when it comes down in price (below $200), or they release Disgaea 5 for it - whatever happens first.
Sounds like we need some purple trench coat DLC for Deus Ex: HR.
I'm concerned the best RE games on the PS3 will turn out to be HD remakes of 1-3.
I used to play Gauntlet 1-3 for hours on end as well without the benefit of loot, gear, or skills. In my day all we had was a single stat boosting potion! All the dungeon levels were uphill, and we played in the dark!
I just like the game play of these kinds of games. Gauntlet, Sacred, Torchlight, Diablo... I like them all.
Rainbow Moon comes out July 10th.
There can still be sharing and trading. Game sharing has recently been restricted, but still exists.
Hopefully it will help for things like my wife and I playing the same game on 2 different PS3 consoles or giving deals when you buy multiple licenses for a single game (like Steam does). Having the option to partner with friends to get four Borderlands 2 licenses would be awesome on PSN/XBL
Still addicted to Rainbow Moon. Probably pick up Malicious after I'm done with RM.
