That's the problem then, if they can't use the disc to affirm owning a game they should've just gone all out DD.
No matter how you look at this it is restricting the consumer. Which if you didn't know: IS BAD!
They're just place holders. - For reference, today we actually already pay $100 for a single game in Sweden... Yea pretty poopy
Please... -_- Sony isn't pushing the cloud like MS does, cause it's not feasible. WHEN the time comes and the infrastructure is in place Sony could use the cloud for computing as well.. Jeez, read my OP before commenting, makes you look stupid. What Sony is doing in 2014 with the cloud (Streaming) is however more likely to work now (if you have a good enough connection)
@MestreRothN4G
Read what I said again. I SAID "It's not the problem, it's rather the sample selection. Had the selection been diverse" <--------- DO YOU SEE?
I didn't say it was accurate as it is now, I was simply saying that it is FALSE that you couldn't get an accurate opinion from 40.000 people representing 200 million - CAUSE YOU CAN.
@Montrealien
Do you even understand statistics? A sample size of 40.000 would give an incredibly precise estimate. It's not the problem, it's rather the sample selection. Had the selection been diverse the polls result would've been 99.5% correct. This one isn't though but what we can take away is that the hardcore gamer is utterly disappointed with the X1.
How did you think they did let's say a poll before an election? Would they call eve...
Microsoft doesn't have 300.000 physical servers, they're with most certainty counting virtual servers. And why couldn't they do it like Microsoft? It's just servers - If I had the money I could buy 300.000 servers. Jeez.
I don't think it's even possible for Sony to keep up with demand. I would say around 3-4 million consoles before the end of the year. You won't find any on the shelves that's for sure.
Well for us who knows about computers in general knew that all Microsoft said was PR bullshit. Like they had some magical secret - The clouds are just servers... Anyone could do that if they wished to invest in it. Cloud computing is not feasible today though seeing how the internet infrastructure of the world isn't up to par.
Not just you. As you said, all the Sony reps feel very human and sympathetic, while the MS reps seems to be unemotional corporate robots - Phil Spencer looks like the biggest douche in the universe.
I don't think people play that many older games to justify it being under the TV all the time. If that is a problem then just bring it out and plug it in when you want to play that particular old console... Well except if that old console is the X1 cause then you wont be able to play it anyway :>
Sony also said there were over 30 exclusives in development. So yeah
"At least I can share my games with ten friends"
Lawl dat argument!
With the PS4 you can trade them with over 9000! Friends. Cause just as with the X1 family game sharing ability - only 1 console can play the game at a time.
The biggest reason (which is just one among many) that you can't compare X1 to Steam is that Steam is not on a closed platform, it got competition which brings down prices. You'll never see a AAA title for 70% off a mare month or two after initial release on the X1, and that's COMMON PRACTICE ON STEAM!
The lower prices on Steam makes for a lesser economical impact on the consumer, hence it does not matter as much that it is tied. That is NOT how the X1 will work -...
What a misinformed comment!
First off it wouldn't be economically feasible for Sony to buy exclusivity on those 3 blockbuster titles, it would cost too much - So instead of doing what Microsoft is doing, moneyhatting third party developers Sony has a invested first party developer lineup to assure a steady stream of games.
And don't even compare Sony and MS on the japanese gaming market and which has the most games fit for said market, cause if your ...
Haha!
These people though doesn't seem to acknowledge what the problem is. Digital is great! But you know what? Sony's PS4 digital policy is no less expansive than the X1s, STILL THEY DON'T UTILIZE DRM HMMM HAO IS DAT POSSIBL? D:
You can be digital and still give the consumer options without taking away any rights.
^This.
I can't believe how some people can belittle the seriousness of what Microsoft is doing - It's insulting really.
@Butler
Hahah NO. MS did not fund the development of the FOX engine ^^
It's so funny, Microsoft declares 15 exclusives within the first year and 8 new IPs, you all go up in arms to that. Sony declares 30 Exclusives and 12 new IPs and that's all of a sudden "no games". Going on track record Sony has always delivered on its first party games (compared to Microsoft which just moneyhats developers to make their games exclusive).
You can like or dislike what ever you want, but what you can't do is to say that Sony wont deliver ...
@Blachek
Cliff is clueless. He's not saying it like it is, he's saying it like they want it to be. If AAA games can't make profits from 5 millions in sales, then perhaps that game shouldn't had cost that much to make. It's how everything works, why would there be an exception for games? It's a product like everything else.
Seriously if they can't reign in the budgets and create games that are profitable then that's their fault....
If you're lucky! I would say you're a bit late to the party though!
