Except Carmack depends on them so I wouldn't take anything from any developer with anything less than a truck load of salt.
Lol there are such things as hard facts when it comes to hardware, one preforms better than the other. It just so happens to be that the PS4s hardware is more competent. FACT!
You're being silly. There are no parallel between the PC indie market and the console one. A PC is an open platform, a console isn't. Sony's incentive towards indies forced MS to change their policies. Simple as that. They didn't want Sony to have that competitive edge. So it's not PC vs Consoles, seeing how the two platforms differ so much from each other.
It's pretty obvious too that this simply is backtracking. Fucking hell, What monster would MS had released hadn't we bitched and moaned. I'm still never going to give them any money!
It's a pretty stupid article overall with no research at all. If one were to go on allotments alone the PS4 got a way bigger supply than the X1. And that's not even taking in the fact that there are some pretty solid rumours of yield problems concerning the X1, which would hamper supply even more.
We're paying $100 for a single game in Sweden so.. yep
@Gekko
Then I feel sorry for you, especially due to the fact that Cloud computing is nothing but a PR ruse from MS at this point. It does not work the way they want you to believe. The cloud won't make your Xbox more powerful, these are just facts - you can find them yourself.
Not a single developer have specifically said anything about cloud computing, the only praise to have come from developers is that MS finally got dedicated servers they can utilize.
Titanfall wants the benefit of dedicated servers.. NOT cloud computing. argh.
Pff, a better question is, have YOU got the internet infrastructure in your neighbourhood to support cloud computing?... Nope. People need to stfu and understand that it does NOT work today. The user base wont have fast enough connection to support it, no matter how much money MS puts on servers.
Cloud = Dedicated servers -> no magic, been around for as long as the internet. Cloud computing is too latency sensitive to work today.. My god.
I can't find the source but according to what ever that was the servers which isn't 300k physical machines but rather virtual is each on its own less powerful than the x1. Now saying this without providing any solid source isn't saying much but that's how it is.
And you're right, but 70million consoles, let's say a couple of million play cloud based games at any given time it's still too many machines relying on a poor amount of servers. But as I s...
I'm sorry but you're wrong. It's not feasible with the internet infrastructure of today, also 300.000 servers may sound like much but how would that be enough for 70 million consoles, all off loading computations to the servers? I hate Microsoft for stupefying the general public.
It doesn't matter how "powerful servers" MS has, it's about internet infrastructure. YOU need a very high bandwidth connection, the percentage of people with viable internet is probably less then 10% for cloud computing to work, hence you can't make games that depend on it.
We don't know either consoles full line up yet. In my opinion neither got that killer game I really want, yet PS4 games look better in my opinion and I'm still getting a PS4 though. The hardware is way more appealing.
It is, no computations will be made by the server for your xbox
They're probably not getting $10 an hour^^ It's way less.
I wonder how well you did at school? In Sweden anyway we get to learn critical thinking, and if you apply this on the Xbox One it really is just terrible, a scientist would never trust such bad results. Don't forgive and forget, that's what they count on, they showed us all how they like to do business.
Xbox One just doesn't give you any great value, that's the conclusion I would come to as an informed consumer that makes educated decisions.
Woops
It is pretty ugly..
I don't trust the 'opinion' of anyone about someone they're dependent upon. You don't shit where you eat. I would believe anyone independent with the technical know how. This of course goes for both Sony and MS.
Carmack haven't been relevant since the 90's, so no. I also believe Carmack with the background he have finds both consoles underpowered.
