Just like Mass Effect 2. *rolls eyes*

First of all, Danger Close made one of the best campaigns this gen for a shooter. Highly underrated. Second, Medal of Honor got re-imagined, and now follows Tier 1 operators. Warfighter is no different. If anything, it's just Danger Close sticking to their guns.

I'd like to point out that critics are cracking down on their ratings systems. It's not as easy to get a 9 as it was a year ago. This system feels a little broken as a result.

For example, I just started another playthrough of Enslaved (great game, by the way), and was trying to recall any NES games that I thought was anywhere near as good. I failed to come up with even one. The original Metroid came close. Super Mario 3 was another contender, but that was pretty much...

Opinions are subjective. None of what you say is true. Might some readjust their scores if given the chance? Perhaps, but you shouldn't assume that any game is worse than any other. What doesn't click for you may work for others.

They are, despite the commercial leanings. The programmers and artists at work still tried to design a great game. Whether one is or not is up for debate.

You could make that same argument with movies and books as well. There are dozens of movies featuring Barbie and friends. Remember Barney on TV. Even books like Twilight are considered art. You and I might see them as examples of poor art, or say there's not enough to appreciate.

Art is a general term t...

Is this confirmed? Because this would be really nice. Granted copying 4 GB files still takes a long time, but not as long as downloading.

wow, what a sad and pathetic life you lead

So you just like the fact that a game is a toy first and foremost and fail to see what artists can contribute to the medium. I'm saying we should evaluate each game as if it were art. Just like movie, television, and book critics.

Also, I value gameplay highly. I just think it needs to be built around a theme. If that theme is in the form of a story, it needs to be built around characters to sell the idea. If that theme is in the form of a more abstract idea, that feeling...

They did say they would like to. But that's as far as I know.

32GB is stupid too. Games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss take up 4GB alone. That'd be approximately 8 games like Uncharted (I'm sure you could fit several more smaller ones). The point is if you're planning to go fully digital, also plan on redownloading a lot of your purchases, as this clearly isn't enough space. You wouldn't even have room for movies or music either.

Nah, I refuse to go digital for Vita games. I will go digital for PSOne, PS2, and PSP game...

Mostly... gaming journalists just aren't credible. They fail to evaluate a game as a narrative experience. That doesn't mean every game has to have a story. Far from it, but the gameplay should complement the overall experience. If it's a simple high scoring game, there's not much of an experience to be had. At least one that lasts. Expectations are changing, and journalists need to adjust to this.

Multiplayer is still a pretty big deal, but it's losing a ...

Mine is being shipped as I write this, but I'm gone until Friday. So I won't be able to pick it up 'til then.

The writer was listing the merchandise that comes with DLC. Some of them sound the same to me, but regardless I don't think this was a rant. He was just stating how much it'd cost to net all the DLC codes. Some of these will probably be offered through XBL/PSN for a much cheaper price... at some point.

Am I the only one? I thought the demo was terrible. I thought Mass Effect 2 was a huge step down from the original, but this seems even worse. Love how it started as a rather robust and complicated RPG, but now Bioware is offering gamers a mode where they can skip all dialogue choices (computer makes them for you) and customization.

Play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, most of the emotion comes from the gameplay. In my original post, I did acknowledge his point, but I disagree. I provided examples to prove my point. So yes, I read and understood the article. It seems you didn't understand my comment.

And again, then he hasn't played enough games. I'd like to see him play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus without feeling anything.

As mentioned earlier, Heavy Rain and Silent Hill 2 both have exceptionally great emotional stories. Uncharted, Alan Wake, Batman, and God of War III did a fair job at this as well. inFamous 2 was a nice surprise last year. Really though, this is just touching the surface.

Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Persona 3/4, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Xenosaga, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VIII/X. All of these games ...

Fighting games need stories. Or at least some higher form of artistic expression. Gameplay is not enough. Games lose meaning when they don't affect us in any meaningful way. It's why a lot of my favorites from the NES and Genesis era are starting to wear thin.
