Sony has been the standard for console gaming since the PS3, maybe even the last part of the PS2 life cycle. Has there been a game yet to top on the 3 consoles GOW or Uncharted or Heavy Rain or platfomers like Ratchet and Clank. What about The Last of Us? What about Beyond? As we get near the end of the PS3 cycles many games are coming into play for the PS3, while I just don't see the other consoles doing the same

I am trying establish patterns where Sony does release...

Yeah staying away from the 3rd party exclusives not only set them up this gen but next gen. Sony knew 1st party games was going to be at a premium this gen and in the future

I do agree with everything you said but Sony is a business and they need money it's just the balance of monetary influx not killing the gaming side. You can easily become one of those money hungry companies. It reminds of the Jedi's in Star Wars, it is very easy to go to the dark side and hard to come back from it.

Sony is doing a great job of doing this like you said. MS had it but faltered in the mid of the 360 and fired all the gaming producers and stuck busines...

When you are a professional you have different rules set for you, you are not part of the public anymore. Why is that so hard to understand?

A professional represents your company not you act like one simple as that.

It's what they didn't say is what really tells

Why would sony do that when they are targeting different audiences?

I'm guessing blu-ray had nothing to do with entertainment at all, or HDMI ports which MS added later. I think you got that in reverse of who followed who in entertainment.

What MS really brought to the table was timed exclusives, so that they can fill in the gap of their scant first party releases. They merely frustrated gamers more than engaged them.

@zhipp

Didn't MS buy the company that created Kinect whereas Sony built it in house from the ground up?

So MS never came first with any tech, technically they just bought it integrated it and sold it, which maybe you can release it much faster than a company who actually makes it. I may be wrong.

You can't compare a console and handheld sales pattern they are very different

It's funny that whenever I praise Sony and say that it always benefits us gamers if Sony succeeds that I am some fanboy.

Games are their DNA, you invest in the PS family you get games, no fillers just games. Even in the beginning of the PS3 I blindly chose the system over the others because I trusted them, they know what they are doing. I'm sorry if it seems fanboyish but facts are facts and I knew this would happen.

As for other systemss, my patt...

Why are people disagreeing? Do you really think I'm implying how the other systems don't do that? I am just talking about Sony and how they learned from there mistakes and each system they built is an experience from that. I mean come on the PS4 is now developer friendly because of the PS3 being hard to code for. You people really are sensitive on here, this is a SONY article not MS or Nintendo.

I don't want to get into how MS how been faltering gamer wise f...

If you know why the Xbox was built you can now say they are going back to their roots and trying to be living room entertainment as opposed to just a gaming console. Watch pachter's latest vid on gametrailers and he explains it better. I usually disagree with him 99% of the time but he does make some good points about this

Love how each aspect of the ps4 has small component that builds up into the ultImate gaming experience. Sony has maximized each gaming experience from past consoles and have now arrived at the PS4. This is why it is good for Sony to be succesful in gaming

If you want a constant stream your 3rd party games needs to be up to snuff, and it's really shaky from what I'm reading

Give it time it takes a little bit to get it started but when you get the hang of the battle system and start to understand it the game starts to come together

Also you need to do a lot of grinding to get the high priced weapons for your familiars. I think the problem is that their are too many familiars to where it might seem overwhelming but you eventually find a group you like ad that when the game starts to get really good

This article should be more telling of MS and how they decreased their generosity by increasing live payments and after seeing Sony and Nintendo give free online play they won't change their stance

It seems to me they won't stop with live payments as most of their money is coming from there and a tell sign that they are not devoted to gaming more than social connectivity

Sometimes these kind of articles shed light on the opposition more than the comp...

You know this gen when the PS3 came out was a gen that they lost a lot of 3rd party exclusives, it goes both ways. And probably Sony releasing the PS4 early and people already hyped for it would make any developer want to go to that system.

Only having a few 1st party exclusives established next gen is going to bite MS in the butt. If they do start to create new IP's for next gen the new companies have to first establish themselves as being good and have a fan following...

As long as you have great 1st party support you shouldn't count a console out. The mistake the WiiU made was concentrating on 3rd party in the beginning trying to make that sell their consoles when those are actually redone from the PS3 and 360, and also losing some exclusive games like Rayman.

So you should see a bump of sales whenever the 1st party games come out obviously. It's just that Nintendo shouldn't rely on 3rd party to sell their system which is what ...

I don't know, nowadays the Xbox division are being run by people who really aren't experienced in gaming but more inclined to do what investors harp for. I have a feeling this is more investor influenced than gaming.

It makes sense seeing MS decisions the past couple of years. It's a trend and something not out of the blue so I'm more inclined to believe they might implement this.
