"Making 3bn a year in 2022"

$3b in revenue is impressive.....But it's not profit, how much of that $3b was spent on acquiring games to its service?

Game Pass is great value for gamers, only a fool would argue different.

But is it sustainable? What happens when prices go up and sub numbers fall? What's the next step?

I believe that MS will bow out of the console race in the future, t...

The idea of Stadia on paper isn't all that bad. Streaming games on almost any device.

But lack of games and horrible pricing on older games especially was never going to work out.

@sparky

I very much doubt they would do that, as that is exactly the sort of thing the watchdog is looking at.

If the watchdog thinks that Xbox would pull such a stunt then the deal will be shutdown as that would be Xbox trying to make a monopoly, which is something we as gamers shouldn't want.

No the standard one doesn't give you N64 games just NES and SNES.

No you need the online expansion.

Expectations that I will be excited about anything ATM is zero.

The idea of Stadia is cool.

I dipped my toe in with Football Manager (before it came back to consoles).

But the horrible pricing for games which I already have, or can get on my console, meant it isn't going to gain much traction.

@Glennhkboy

I believe (you may have to Google this) that the share holder thing was a gentlemans sort of agreement at the time.

It was after the FF movie bombed and Square asked Sony to invest to help save them. On the condition they didn't try and takeover, and Sony stuck to it.

This might be why now, SE are trimming the fat so to speak, and selling to Sony.

@foxtrot

Whilst I agree, with more studios, comes more running costs, and the value of the company goes up.

If Square Enix want to be bought by Sony, but Sony don't really have the money to spend huge (especially if they want to buy other studios) what would you do?

You would cut your losses with the western studios, which then makes you more attractive.

It will be purely down to business. The IPs maybe valuable...

@surgical

I dunno about the SquareEnix one.

I mean it would make a lot of sense, and I think it fits Sony, but I just can't see it happening.

But if you blast through a load of games you will then unsub until you want to play something.

MS don't want that, they want you to stay with GP for as long as possible.

And what better way to do that then give you games that take weeks even months to complete?

Otherwise you then have to make even more deals (or produce even more games) to get games on the service.

It would be interesting to see the average comple...

But that's not what MS want you to do.

What they want is for you to have a list of 8/9 games that you want to play, that take ages to complete, so that by the time you do complete 1 of them there are three more, so you stay subbed to work through each game.

Yakuza could take you 2/3 weeks of a regular persons time (people who work and have kids probably get 2-3 hours a day to play) and so then by the time the month ends you have only played 1 maybe 2 ...

My only gripe with this game is the map is terrible to read. I'd love a Neverwinter style mechanic where it gives you a path to follow on the screen when you place a waypoint.

Even a Ghost of Tushinima wind style visual would be better than what we have currently.

"Square doesn't want to almost completely lose the Japanese market by abandoning the Switch"

But IF (and that's a massive if) Sony bought Square they wouldn't need to worry about that. As it would be Sony's problem.

And it's not like Square games don't sell on other platforms in Japan is it?

"If it's on topic, and you still want to call them out, then the problem becomes an article of just people raging on that person who doesn't have a popular opinion"

Excellent point.

Why do we feel the need to "call out" fanboys/trolls?

I mean it's not like if we don't our gaming lives will be effected.

It's not on the same level as calling out a racists or sexist.

My two cents.

Admin/mods should only get involved if it's extreme comments.

Everything else the users could have a voting system.

If other users think it's trolling, just let us mark it as such.

If someone is threating someone, or being racist etc then sure swing your ban hammer.

I do think the bubble system was good as others could vote if they wanted to hear more of your takes or not.

My dad bought a PS4 two years ago, he doesn't have many games.

He saw this list, saw it was £100 for the year and is now very excited.

Where as for me, I will probably go for the middle tier as of right now nothing in the PS1/2/3 catalogue is a "must play/replay" for me.

That may well change.

Over half a million combined console sales in a week says differently.

"but you guy's just regurgitate the same BS and never provide sources to back it all up."

Why? It's not a court of law, those of us who have been following gaming news for the past 15-20+ years all know he is a hack.

If YOU don't agree, that's fine, just ignore it, or do some digging yourself and find out for yourself.
