Well on the one hand it is bad that they would limit the console to one U-mote but what happens when they get hacked to run as clients to PC applications? It would really suck for nintendo to sink 1/3 or more of the cost of the console into the controller only to have people buying them separately to run applications and control games (like Kinect) that have nothing to do with (Wii) U. hmm, as the odd console without BD this isn't surprising. but with BD they could have included lossless audio (and probably a mandatory install anyway). game should be available on the marketplace as a download.
speak for yourself. The more partners they have (considering their development tools) the more reason they'd have for a convention just for themselves.
but more than anything though they might want to unlike Blizzard at least diversify the types of games they make in house.
like with a fighting or racing game so that we can see that the wireless connection is fast enough to keep up with U and the console (and what's on the TV)

we all know that pain, and it should be directed at Microsoft for imploding their own games publishing efforts for windows in favor of people paying for Xbox Live, an Xbox console and attached services etc.
But also, where you mention Gears, I'd mention Unreal Championship II.. it is a pity that franchise wasn't adopted for PC multiplayer and co-op campaign.. but that's just my view. There are plenty of other Xclusives that should have been cross-platform with PC ...

it is practically tradition for consoles to sell at a loss (over time) but if Nintendo is so focused on 3rd party and those games actually sell they won't have to worry about system sales to make money (even if that is their tradition).
Also with such a big lead and what may end up being a solid 8th generation start, they'll be sitting pretty in that pool for a while before there is any competition from Microsoft and Sony.. as long as they ...

what if it was a timed exclusive for Xbox Live then got other versions on other platforms later on? it has been known to happen and would result in the better versions hitting other platforms. even Nin's Project Cafe.
it needs to be where it will get the largest audience and lead to more games in the franchise being made.
thank god some of the original masterminds are working on it... even if it ends up being another calling all cars it may still have some of the spirit of the original. The only concern is how nerfed up might end up, AND how polished it could feel as an XBLA game. Also who the publisher will be, to determine if this will be a one shot deal or a well supported and marketed ...

Indeed but that is the problem, Garry's mod does satisfy this genre minus that it isn't a what you'd call mainstream boxed product with enough unique content and updates. work would remind me of Red Faction meets Fracture meets Garry's Mod.
At least with a Red Faction flavor it would have a possibility at a campaign (building and managing colonies?! :} !!!
While maybe even encouraging Valve to develop GMod/concept as a boxed product or simila...

I'm confused at this as well but maybe Valve is doing a RTW and doesn't have the resources to continue supporting such a succefessful and ambitious studio but also isn't going to stand in their way (getting published) and generating potential bad blood for future partnerships later on... ?
here's hoping those godless bastards at Microsoft, apparently in name only a publisher, will remember they are supposed to maximize the potential of their franchises and make Forza the Fifth a PC game. (since this one at least looks visually impresive despite the hardware platform).
