I'm looking forward to this games release. I need more JRPGs on my PS3 and this one looks like it's right up my alley. I rented the game on the Xbox 360 and thought the gameplay was very fun and addicting. I'm definitely picking this one up if it's the definitive version.
What about Free Radical Design? You know, the guys behind Battlefront 3 which wowed the gaming industry with their leaked footage only to leave everyone heartbroken that the devs went under? Yeah I know that they are now Crytek's UK division but they lost all of their work with Battlefront 3. Or at least I think they did.
Why's that?
Absolutely. I've had my fingers crossed for the movie to be localized every since it was announced back in February.
Words cannot describe how amazing the Tales series is. Words cannot describe how amazing Tales of Vesperia is. Words cannot describe how much I want this to be localized.
I don't even bother to read the flamebait articles that are spewed out every week. I just click on the articles that actually give me useful information pertaining to the upcoming games I'm excited for.
I hope Tales of Graces gets ported to another console. If not then I'll have to go against my vow and pick up a Wii.
Personally, I couldn't survive without the Tales series. I just love it too dang much. It will always have it's place inside my heart.
I get what you are saying Blackpanther25 but I think that in order to cater to the western audience it would be more appropriate to *add* elements that would appeal to them rather than *remove* something that would upset the eastern audience.
@MajestieBeast
I wouldn't necessarily make the claim that westernization forced JRPGs to implement non-turnbased forms of combat. Action RPGs are a legitimate sub-genre in the main RPG genre. Implementing a real time battle system could simply be because the developers thought that the game would have been suited better with it. I'm with you on the fact that there aren't enough turn-based games but I'm still sticking to what I just wrote.

But that's just it isn't it? Fanservice. The consumers appreciate that developers are placing these elements in their games because it either amuses or excites them at the sheer mention of it. In the east, it's normal and a part of their culture. It may not appeal to the western consumers but they are the minority in the sales figures so the developers don't worry.
I can see what this guy is saying but don't developers usually create games with influence from their own culture? I mean, unless they are planning on attracting an oversea audience from the get-go (ala Demon's Souls) they usually stick to what their primary fan base wants. Some JRPGs never even hit western retail. I understand what he's talking about when he says JRPGs are not really "pushing the envelope" but I'm confident that games such as Demon's Souls, Resonance of Fate, 3D Do...
I have no credibility since I haven't played either of them. I'll buy both and get back to you.
Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube. Good times.
I understand what you are saying but don't you think Valkyria Chronicles is a benchmark for the Strategy RPG genre? It's unlike anything to grace the industry this generation.
Why isn't Valkyria Chronicles or Demon's Souls on that list? Two titles that were highly praised by both the media and any consumer who was smart enough to pick up a copy.
Once a silent protagonist, always a silent protagonist.
Was that taken off a foreign site and then quickly pasted in Google Translator? I've never seen such terrible grammar.
Battlefront 3
KOTOR 3
Republic Commando 2
Please be one of these!!!
I was really looking forward to that game Tiberium but it was canceled because it apparently didn't meet quality standards. I thought it looked really cool because it was set in the Tiberium universe and melded a little real time strategy with first person shooting. Multiplayer would have been a blast. It looked just fine in terms of quality when it was featured on an episode of Gametrailers TV. Oh well. But I still think the award for Top Game That Got Canned still goes to Battlefront 3. Tha...
