I think this is a very thought-provoking blog, but I'm not entirely with you on your argument. Out of the cardinal claim-data-warrant model, your piece really only settles inside the first pillar. Providing specific examples of games wherein the focus of the game marred the narrative (and vice versa), and then interpreting these instances to support your claim would have greatly strengthened your argument.
From my personal experience, I think that there can exist games th...
Who came up with the catch phrase? A quick Google search indicates that it was IGN. To quote an article from their site posted almost one year ago:

Ugh. Like we need another brain fungus game. The market is over-saturated with the brain fungus genre. When will this madness end!?
I'm pretty excited, but I was also hoping for some One Piece: Kaizoku Musou media. I wonder if Tecmo Koei is putting it in their lineup.
Why would they put a game that's been out for three months in their lineup?
This is the worst kind of news. I hope those guys find jobs soon.
British actors? British actors. Hell yes!
(Rainy)day one.
Looks like Lost Planet 2.
I sense a closed theater Versus showing. Quick, get out your hand-cameras. Shaky, low-quality web streams here I come!

So the Steven Blum leak was true. Bring it!
That was awesome! Reminds me a lot of Blade and Soul. It's a shame such a brilliant game has to suffer because of the stupid whims of company policy. I hope that this isn't the last we see of Project D!

What sort of fraction is that!?
So Miyamoto is going hands-on and Nintendo is going into the HD realm. It really is the end of an era.
