Well for 299$ one actually gets more buying a PS3 + free online gaming (you can spend that extra money on a game!).. So it's gonna be interesting to see what happens.
Obviously Microsoft is nervous though. They cut the price before which helped sales a great deal, but it has faded off by now. And now with both consoles with the same price... hm hm hm exciting =)
So theoretically if they didn't release a slim the whole company would be beyond saving? Does this journalist even know that Sony has loads of other products? TVs, Stereos, Phones?

Well I heard a lot of "equally good shows", but Microsoft "won" because of a bit more celebs and Natal created a lot of buzz that lasted a while.

I agree that we need xgame chat. But what do you mean with ETC - what more? FYI Microsoft supposedly has patented the x-game chat on xblox Live, so I do have a understanding that it might be tricky for Sony to do it for PSN, however, they should comment directly at this (missing)feature now.
I waas a bit disappointed that Xgame chat wasn't a part of this update, but it's not crap. It's very cool the new themes thing, and they've made it even easier to navigate and preview stuff. ...

Agreed. 299$ for a PS3 gives you more than 299$ for a 360 (I own both).
