It's from a print magazine - released to the shelves a couple of months back. We have a 'cooling off' period before we can post it online, so as not to cannibalise our own content etc

Oh cool, you've deleted the original comment.

For context: Guy above originally asked why the article states it was written 'just after The Order was released'

People give Cliff a bad time because of how the Gears series headed outside of his direction, but he's a genuinely eloquent and perceptive guy. One of the nicest interviews I've done, for sure

FFXV will have its own minigame in some way or form, I'm sure of it. I don't mind this news, to be honest - if people don't want to play it, they won't and all the profit it DOES make will get filtered back into the development of the main game series

I'm happy to have Triple Triad back, reminds me of the days I took 12 hours getting to dethrone the Card Queen and defeat the CC Club in FFVIII

Having been lucky enough to see a little of the remastered Halo 3 in action, I'll happily just have some Twitchers on in the corner of my screen as I work: it's amazing how much better they've managed to improve what was already a pretty decent-looking 360 game.

Also, the small changes in the PvP [velocity added to melee, guns on the Mongoose(!)] make the whole thing very fresh and very nostalgic at the same time... it's a cliche to say that, but damned if it&...

"I liken it a lot to binging on Netflix before a next season of something comes out; it’s a great way for people to catch up.” - Dan Ayoub

GTA: San Andreas actually looked pretty neat on PC with mods, so hopefully this will be a legit remaster. Also, the achievement list seems to make the most of the unique stuff CJ could do, so it at least gives you a reason to go back to it...

I think you can see that in how it plays too, though A:I certainly benefits from moving away from Splinter Cell's insistence that you 'glue' to walls when in stealth

Considering what Greg says in the interview, I'm kind of convinced Sledgehammer wants to learn from Infinity Ward/Treyarch's mistakes - after all, that's another developer's budget spent on trial-and-erroring for Sledgehammer, they'd be fools to ignore the criticisms that have come before, right?

I'm confident they can at least *alter* how arcade-y/twitch-y CoD has become, if not 'cure' it fully

I think there's a little more to the design than that - until we did this interview, I didn't realise the Knight was supposed to be like a full-on military commander: the armour design might not be the most inventive (but to be inventive *and* in keeping as a Batman doppelganger sounds hard), but hopefully his character will be deep enough to justify a kind-of fancy palette swap of Bats, right?

I took it as him saying he's not trying to crowbar the game into being a classic by abiding to old tropes and expectations, but rather going all James Cameron-experimental with it and firing in multiple directions to see what sticks.

I mean, Avatar wasn't perfect - not by a long way - but you can't say it wasn't at least impactful, right?

PS+ is the best thing to ever happen the Vita. Buy one for, like, £100, and in about 3 months you'll have your money back in free games. The stuff Curve Studios are putting out alone justifies a purchase to me.

I just hope he means the H. G. Wells masterpiece, rather than that toxic pile of Tom Cruise drivel

Do you think they should? Judgement was a damp squib, but the Gears formula worked for the first 3 games - I kinda hope Black Tusk deconstruct what made the first game so good and re-validate that for today. Mix that crunchy, satisfying gunplay with just enough story to keep you interested... and then put loads of epic setpieces together where you just shoot the s**t out of EVERYTHING

“Gears started as a class-based Battlefield kind-of game,” explains Unreal Engine lead programmer, James Golding, “It had classes, mechs and it was going to be multiplayer focussed… that was until [Cliff Belszinski] played Medal Of Honour and he was like ‘no, single-player campaign is where it’s at!’”

Imagine how different it all would have been had Cliff not sat down and played Medal Of Honour one day. Crazy to think MoH - an average FPS at best, imo - shaped one of the best...

Having played the PS4 version of the game (woo!) in a dark room on my own (ahh!), I can confirm that it does actually add a lot to the game - probably the only time I've really noticed and enjoyed the lightbar. Best use od DS4 so far, no gimmick

Absolutely! I'm all for a more open industry in terms of representation and equality, but when people try and force developers into sacrificing their creative freedom to cater their demands, everyone loses.

Gotta love Creative Assembly

It's an incredible time to be a gamer, but better yet - it's an EVEN BETTER time to be a gamer into comics and/or horror. We're lucky there are so many platforms and amazing devs out there catering for LITERALLY every taste. People that say 'te games industry is dying' are speaking out of their arses.

I still think we're going to be pleasantly surprised by the characters that get revealed for this in the coming weeks/months...
