I hope the money they get from this is used for a real Star Ocean game.
There's still a possibility they will separate from Index Corp and go independent. Atlus themselves are not in trouble.
But if they get bought then my bet is on Nintendo since Atlus has released plenty of games for DS and 3DS over the years.
Yes I agree that Ninja Gaiden is way harder than Souls. I just don't think Souls as a series tries to be brutally hard. They are designed to make the player play carefully and learn from mistakes.
Many Demon Souls players found Dark Souls easier since they were already used to it's game design.
My point being NG's and Souls's difficulty is designed so differently which makes comparison hard. Then again I might be just overthinking.
They are very different games to compare properly.

But SMT main games SMT1,2, SJ, SMTIV are on Nintendo platforms. Also your beloved Mara is in his original form in those games. Ironically Nocturne's Mara is just a retextured slime instead of the original.
Also Devil Survivor 1/2 used the original demon sprites and those games are on DS. They don't have Mara but they still have few of those genital demons.

Haven't you played main SMT games? They are much more darker than Persona and 4/5 of the games are on Nintendo systems.
Why would they tone it down? Strange Journey and SMTIV are both on Nintendo handhelds and they're the same good old SMT we love.

Wii U should be able to produce next gen graphics but due to RAM differences the scale between Wii U and PS4/X1 games should be very different.
For example PS4/XB1 can produce next-gen graphics for huge open world games while Wii U should be able produce same visuals for smaller games like Mario Kart or Smash Bros.
FFXIII wasn't a flop since it sold rather well. It just wasn't a good FF game. I just don't know why they made a third one since FFXIII-2 sold less than half compared to FFXIII.

Unfortunately most PS4's launch games aren't for my tastes so I'll wait until more games arrive that cater to my tastes. Until then I have my backlog to keep me entertained. That reminds me, I don't think I've ever bought a console day one.
MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, Last of Us, Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls and Journey for me.
