As far as I understand it, Bethesda might own the ip. Private Division seems to be the equal to EA originals which helps publish games but doesn’t own the ips published on it.

Old news or not, it still proves Obsidian Devs are trying to keep up with newer engines beyond what PoE uses. Plus just think what they can do when it’s a project the guys actually get paid for on top of a passion project?

Traumatized by how he was raised.

Even before 2 started, people would have been coming in and out of his life (“gang family” dying or leaving), having his father leave him for a year (just before rdr2 takes place), being kidnapped (and this actually being his happiest timeframe by the way he talks about it), the way he was being saved, having more adopted gang “family” killed including right in front of him, and then his mother taking him from his father again and again as ...

Out of their 13 studios now, I think Initiative and Playgrounds #2 will be the ones that match or exceed Coalition and 343 (and both forza devs really) as AAA right out the door.

Obsidian and Ninja Theory will be the next to make the jump as they have AAA quality designs in their pack already even if they’ve been on tough times lately.

InXile next perhaps. Rare needs to shine again as I like them as a dev still but haven’t been on par with those other st...

It will probably bounce back. Not sure how infinite will do since they have to handle 5’s mess there but once Infinite launches they’ll probably end up making a new Trilogy that focuses more on the original story.

Halo 2 after all never did get resolved really. Gravemind is still out there so the Flood will be back and Covenant races’ politics will probably create splinter factions or a New Covenant sort of thing.

@battlegrog: no real plan has been talked about yet but it seems to be shaping up to be some sort of a action narrative going by the hires. Tomb raider, GoW, Rockstar, and a SSO Director most recently being some notable hires that i can remember off the top of my head. It will probably be another 3-4 years until they’re ready however as the studio is the newest out of the bunch.

Playgrounds’ second at least was announced last febuary but wouldn’t expect anything from the...

I think it’s a mistake, but it’s a mistake that might be the better option than going than showing the same games again if that’s why they’re doing it. It’s a PR style mistake in other words words.

That mistake could later be seen as a strength though. If they do a PS5 reveal next year? People will forgive them in a heart beat. E3’s organizers might be miffed but whatever; Sony needs to think of themselves first.

The best thing they could do imo is be...

Overpriced imo but a great card. I’m not buying one though.

It’s more unlikely but not impossible.

If Sony throws a PS’s 25th Anniversary Celebration (Japanese release anniversary in ‘19) and also a Future of the Industry highlighting a PS5 launch then media will completely get over no e3 in a second as it could be a huge stand alone show. It would have to be shown by TGS though imo I’d that was to happen (TGS being in Japan which is a big nod for PS’s Japanese anniversary too).

At the very latest though, it I’ll...

If you don’t kill him, he’ll actually go into a big speel about don’t touch me and just leave me alone while he’s hogtied too. It was great.

That’s sort of why I like hogtying so many people if given the chance. You sometimes get a little dialogue if they’re alive longer if you don’t just shoot them in the head or knock them out right away. I don’t do it to good guys really, but you get to heat the bad ones squirm and try to get you to let them go for longer.

I love how they mentioned a certain level of staying “one studio” still.

This gives me the impression that whatever that game is will very likely be using this same engine as Horizon and just think of the possibilities after seeing the weather changes in it but add it to an open world Action rpg. Weather in the dlc too (storms) in a game like Fable? Shared engine tech like that can help a lot. It would be a lot like RDR2’s open world but with with the possibility of weat...

I want it to be Fable, but I also want it to be something new partly because that’s what Xbox always gets attacked for (same IPs over and over). Plus it won’t have baggage attached as I don’t need Emotes in my storytelling and that’s basically what Fable always used for certain (many) interactions.

So if it is Fable then make it more like Fable legends (not gameplay wise) where it exists in the same universe, shares a certain level of whimsy still, but is basically it’s ow...

I hogtied him and had a conversation with him before dragging him to gators. They wouldn’t bite so a I put predator bait on him and they killed him for me.

Skinned the gator and took it back to camp with me too as a souvenir.

This is why I don’t follow metacritic to begin with.

Some might be genuine but a lot are just pissy fans or even haters that don’t like it because it’s not what they had previously. Those weigh it down a lot more than it should be otherwise.

And it happens more and more for every single game, some just have enough genuine reviews where they can offset the bad more.

Technically they’re doing GAAS... it’s called Game Pass. It’s just instead of a single game it’s Games now.

With their acquisitions though, and theoretically what they’ve said about halo and even Gears but we’ve yet to see, they are wanting to head back to quality on top of quantity. Something more focused than a “Netflix for Games” style service and content provider (from themselves, you could equate GP to Netflix easier on the whole though) but not as focused as say a P...

If you look at modded skyrim, if they add things like Parallax, then flat textures aren’t a big deal anymore which is why I’m not as worried as some.

Skyrim after all is a 7 year old game but when fully utilized and modded it can be gorgeous. If they actually tweak the Creation engine as much as Boris and some others have (ENB creator) then it could be the same Engine but so much more than F76 is. They just need to give it as much love and attention as modders do, which s...

Game Awards next month?

However: “The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.“

If it has all characters, environments, and iconic moments but an original story, then it could very well be something along the ...

Obsidian made games like Kotor 2, Fallout New Vegas, and most recently PoE. All 3 were very well received RPGs. Biggest blunder was Alpha Protocol which had some great ideas but didn’t live up to potential imo (and many others’).

InExile is a bit less so but Wasteland 2 was a great crpg return—if less than say Divinity or PoE. Wasteland 3 is slated for next year and I heard it’s still releasing on all of its original platforms still. Then we’ll see where they head off t...

Definitely. W3 and RDR2 are my tops for sure though, and I loved all the others as well actually.

Very possible it will come down to one of these 2 as overall game of the generation for me actually. But we’re not even done yet with games like TLOU2, Tsushima, and even Cyberpunk not out yet. Might need to revisit a few others when that time comes around as well. Some great $20 games this gen I’ve loved as much, if for different reasons (Ori being one of those for sure). ...

I think GOW was the best made and presented game of the year overall, but RDR2 is my “GOTY” still somehow. Not just favorite but it brings more to the table that I’d like to see in other games.

If I wasn’t as huge of a fan of open world games, exploration, and make my own adventure style games then GoW would probably have won out (I just love doing my own thing in games and this is great for that).

I already want a new GoW more than a new RDR however—the...
