Heavenly Sword was ok, looked amazing, but what really put me off was the dreadful screen tearing when played in HD. I'm sure screen tearing will be present if they use that engine.
This damage does not look realistic, when have you ever seen a smashed up car look anything like these examples. PD would not have damaged vehicles in their game that look this poor. These images look like they have just been altered in Photoshop using the "Smudge Tool".
** EDIT - I have just seen moving footage of damage that looks like these screen shots. I can't believe it - looks really bad!! I'm seriously in disbelief that PD would allow this poor look...
It's a shame that no one knows how to correctly encode video. Makes the game look like a juddery mess.
Yes I fear for Kinnect, that system is looking well dodgy - the focus on casual gaming is clear, as it is not capable of delivering anything else, unless the 360 controller can be used in tandem with it. The casuals could takeover, or it could just be dead and buried inside a year.
As for Move, there is no need to worry, the tech looks pretty solid and games will be incorporating DS3 and Move, so you will always have the option to use DS3 if you wish (unless of course it is ...
Two things though:
1. Did they put a monkey at the controls - the driving is awful.
2. I hope the video has been encoded badly. There were some serious frame drops there.
Yes, it's a hard-sell to idiots.
When compared to PC and 360 (which are practically identical, PC's are just very, very powerful 360's), the PS3 is radically different to code for. In fact, whilst the PC version just needs a simple port to the 360, the PS3 needs an entirely different engine for the game to run on. This is of course very, very expensive as the entire architecture of the code has to be changed for a good PS3 port.
So what has happened here is that despite the above, the developers stil...
It must be just me, but I found both resistance games to be a bit dull - like they were missing something and graphically (apart from a couple of scenes) looked a bit crap.
From what I've see so far from Kinect, I don't think that even "Old School" style arcade-style games will be possible. Some degree of accuracy is needed even to play something like Space Invaders. For a start you really need a responsive fire button...
I really have no idea how Kinect is going to be any good for anyone over the age of 4.
I'm just going on what I've seen so far. I have to say I have not yet seen a convincing demo of Kinnect, where as I have seen quite a few cool looking demos for Move. Simple as that.
Has anyone seen a decent Kinect demo yet??
Hmm, obviously a Red Dwarf fan - nice one ;)
I have to agree, someone had to make the point of the author, and let's face it - he's right. Well said that man.
“the plan for the future is to bring the community back together” he even talked about plans for gaming tournaments “what I would ideally want is 200 people playing Killzone in a tournament but all done in one room over the weekend.”
WTF? He had better mean in an online capacity, after all isn't that what online gaming is for?
You'd have to be a total dumb ass to not see the potential very early on. Nice pic.
The thing is, Kinect is neither one thing or the other. It will not appeal to the hardcore because of the lack of accuracy and will not appeal to causals because of the cost.
It's in limbo = doomed!
How about updating the damn graphics engine to start with, its looked the same for the last 10 years. I was expecting so much from future releases of this game, but it never got any better.
That's why I haven't bought it. Although I may get the Move version if it comes out. Maybe that's why; everyone is waiting for the Move version?
current consoles can only occasionally handle non-3d games at 1080p (depending on the talent of the developer), let alone 3D games at 1080p. So yes, I agree with the article.
Molyneux is a knob. Can't trust what he says, especially as he carries a photo of Bill Gates in his wallet.
Oh you poor monk, there are better things to dream about though hey?
Yep, and it needs to be really. Sorry, but not a big fan of the Resistance series so far.
